I wasn't expecting much but when we called today they did not have rooms for late october into november . That used to be a quiet time at the park but it looks like its going to be packed. Any idea as to why? I could get reservations for part of the stay at Shades of Green but wanted to spend some time 'inside' but nothing.

I was just wondering that myself and when I looked for beginning of Oct I found out that everything is booked.

Guessing some kind of event? As the guy at disney res told me the park is going to be jammed. So much for off season I guess. Kind of disappointed.

October is no longer slow season. You have the Halloween Party multiple nights a week and it's also the time of year when Food and Wine Festival happens.

Free dining deals were released in the spring for October, and much of the remaining availability was scooped up with the room only promotion released earlier this summer.

Resorts are packed but I am going late October and just did some ADR changes the other day and there was a lot of availability of restaurants for my nights, specifically 10/29, 10/30 and 10/31.

Also myself and others had quite an easy time with our fast passes. :)

Just an FYI!

Was wondering the same thing. I'm booked at Yacht Club December 2-9 of this year, and I just went online to check about room upgrades - EVERY WDW property (except Copper Creek Villas) is booked.

So... Should I expect Christmas/New Year's-like crowd levels for the 1st week of December? I'd never expect 0 wait times for WDW anymore, but for EVERY property to be booked solid for that first week? Really??

Things change I guess. Anyone have luck in waiting to see if there are cancellations as we get closer to october? Guess that is just a dice roll.

The guy at reservations, who was very nice, told me this was unusual. But as someone mentioned here they seem to be trying to add promotions and some events to get more people there.

To add to it is that many school districts now include a "fall break" in early/mid- October.

You might find cancellations at around 30 days out, as this is when payment is due to any packages that have been booked.

I don't think it's a new occurrence, but one that has been building up over the years where it has now reached room capacity. The Halloween Parties have been going on for the last ten+ years. And Food and Wine for the last 20+ years. Free dining has been running this time of the year for ~10 years too.

Keep in mind that there are resorts like Caribbean Beach where whole buildings have recently been knocked down which leads to less room availability overall.

End of October into November had rooms for CBR, ASM, and AoA, along with Old Key West, AKL and Grand Floridian if those work...

farro...if I put in a block of dates it says nothing available...do I have to do it day by day? txs...GF would be okay...we are boardwalk inn / poly kind of folks.

Now that is the problem - people seem to have to play with dates to get it to work for them. Maybe calling would be easier? Be flexible if you can, one date can throw off the whole thing! :)

farro..yeah I did that and the guy was great. Oddly enough he can't see the rooms any different than us...I found that surprising. I offered to stay at two different places if that would help. I think I will be patient and just keep seeing if there are cancellations over the next few weeks before I cancel the whole thing. Too bad Cindy and I were really kind of looking forward to finally getting away for a bit. Been way to many years since we have been back at disney. This site is still as nice as I remember it years ago.

We went in early October 2014 and the crowds weren't too bad, then went October 2015 and it was CRAZY busy. I think it is so much easier now to hear about the Fall events and free dining, that more people know about it and go then. I am trying mid November this year and late April next year so we shall see!

its crazy. we are going nov 1-5 and there was nothing in a value for 2 weeks. i accidently changes date to oct31 to nov 6 and a room at pop showed up, so i booked it and called disney to modify it.

No dates in October were included in the Free Dining offer; blacked out from 10/1 - 11/13.

The first week in October is also Gartner IT, which uses a good thousand rooms on campus. It's a conference.

October is blacked out of free dining because they book up without it.

October and November is peak season at WDW. That's why so much is already booked. It is no longer a quiet time at all. The parks will be jam-packed.
