I just called Disney's 1-800 # for reservations. The beginning of the message states that there are no rooms available on WDW property for this weekend. It also stated that guests who wish to cancel their vacations with for 9/1 -9/6 may do so without losing any deposits (except airfare). Please call if this applies to you so you can hear the info first hand. We are scheduled to arrive at WDW on Friday for a week at WL. Not sure at this point what we are going to do. We are waiting to see what happens.

Lisa loves Pooh- be well and I hope and pray that you and my favorite place on earth stay safe.

limabeanmom- I wish you all the best.....lots and lots of pixie dust coming your way. :wizard: Hey, were from the same part of the world!

I called and was able to add another night. Maybe because of less CM's they aren't booking any further? I was told there were still a lot of openings.

Hey limabean mom--we'll be at WL as evacuees--we are there Thurs thru Sunday.

See you there!! Are you traveling with any kids? We will have a 1 1/2 yr old with us.

We were due to arrive at POFQ this Saturday for 3 nights with friends....we are cancelling tomorrow. Well, rescheduling.
:(

Probably part of the process of preparing for the storm.

Also doing their part to help the community by discouraging additional influxes of guests who will then put demands on grocery stores, roads, etc.

And also reducing the potential for complaints that much money was spent on room nights with no park time to enjoy.

Whatever rooms are still vacant and safe will be made available to local evacuees although probably not free. Disney also has some areas that are official storm shelters for the area including gymnasium like areas that probably will be free.

But if the storm is expected to be bad enough, everyone may have to be evacuated many miles away and Disney cannot be expected to transport all the last minute out of town guests let alone those who came to sightsee the damage.

basically the rooms are blocked not sold, if there is no staff to clean the rooms or check the guest in there really is no hotel rooms to sell.

The rooms cancelled today will be refreshed and in the system tonight midnight. However, they will not be selling any more rooms to guests. I imagine help will be a little scarcer than usual this weekend. If we don't cancel, we don't expect maid service.

I don't want to sound mean, but the last thing the state of FL needs right now are an influx of out of state visitors during this scary and possibly devasting time.

This is serious stuff, this hurricane is Charley X 3--it's huge! Orlando may not be on the coast but there is going to be so much of a wide range of devastation all over (not just one concentrated area)!!

And, many Floridians may be trying to get out of the state after Frances hits because they may not have a home to live in and they may need to bring their kids to a safe place such as a relative's or friend's that lives out of state and that just doesn't make it easy when there are so many tourists that have to go home!!

I'm sure that's why WDW is not taking reservations--not to mention all of their CMs who have homes as well. They were stuck with Charley because it hit so quick and took an unexpected track and I am sure they don't want a repeat of that although they will with all of the people that are there now and those who ignore the warnings.

I talked to a CM tonight - she said that besides the possibilty of limited staff, a lot of staff tend to stay in the rooms as well. It is safer and it keeps the resorts and parks up and running.

I agree having out of towners come in is not a good idea. I am VERY sad about not going. I am praying I can get a change as I rented points from a DVC member. Either way, I can't imagine going down there at this point full well knowing it is going to be windy, rainy and who knows what else - even if not dangerous just a complete wash out for a few days.

I am praying for everyone in FL!

I am with you why would anyone want to come here knowing there is a hurricane this is no joke it is serious and in all reality there will not be power, you will be secluded in a room for at least 12 hours and no hop eof going to the theme parks for at least a day or 2 at best...
we had planned to go to disney on friday night as a treat to the kids had a room for friday booked several weeks ago tryied calling yesterday to see if we could extend since we have to evacuate our home on MI now they said they were booked for saturday!! I was told that they were suspending reservations so that they could hold rooms for people who are really stuck at disney flights cancelled etc..example someone whoes flight leaves sat but was cacelled etc.. We were able to get a room for thursday also since we need to leave by 2 from our house thursday but are still waiting to see what to do about sat talked to disney said we needed to evac thur-sun/mon so if we could not get a room for sat sun we needed to know so we could cancel and go somewhere else they said for me not to worry that they were not going to put us out during a hurricane and that that was one of the reasons they froze all bookings.. most people I know are not trying to get to disney they are trying to get further I just hope that we keep power and i have a home to go home to but .. cannot imagine why someone would choose to come here right now!!! money or not... I am being forced out of my home (although I would have gone anyway), and am going to prob go broke paying for a room for a few nights until they say i can go home and then i will prob be faced with no home anyway I love our tourists but if people continue to come this weekend not only wpuld it not be the trip of yorur life you would become a burden to our community that we really do not need.. soryy if it seems i am ranting i am a little cranking trying to decide what pictures i can fit into my car along with my kids and dog and which ones i am going to stuff in my washing machine and dishwasher and hop ethey stay dry.... hope everyone has a great safe weeked...

burden to our community that we really do not need

I'm sorry if it ends up feeling that way. It's too bad they don't just shut down the airport, and take the decision out of our hands. Different people have different reasons for coming, and I'm not making my decision lightly. I'm trying my best to make an informed decision on what to do. Some of us have had these plans for a long time...and it's hard to plan for months, and then just give it up. Disney assures me their hotels can take the winds..they certainly didn't try to discourage me after several phone calls today. Remember also, since many people booked Disney from Florida the past few days, the room that you are not able to get, may be another Floridian.
I hope all goes well for you, and your home is spared. Are there other hotels people can go to than Disney, if the tourists are filling those rooms..maybe one that would be less expensive and would be easier on your budget?
I can feel your frustration, and I'm sorry you are having such a hard time.

sorry if it seemd harsh we as flordians will help out anyone who needs it and actually money is not really a concern i was just overwhelmed before...its late and i still cannot choose which of my sons trophies i will take with me,... we are not really worried disney has assured me that we will have rooms sat and sun just thought i would let others who are wondering about modifying why it cannot be done anymore this weekend .. that disney is in fact holding there rooms for people in our postion who would/planned to leave sat morning but now cannot and in your case maybe you as well not sure when you planned on leaving how you are getting here etc.. I hope you enjoy your stay and have a safe trip home..(I plan on hitting the parks with my Kids today and a little on friday :sunny:) Thast the one plus for us we are anual pass holders so since we planned on going friday any way may as well tryto enjoy our day off... actually disney has the best hotels and i would not worry about he iwnd..just be prepared to be without elec/etc.. for a few days...

Well hopefully no one from these boards would do this, but some will come so afterwards they can pitch a fit and demand a refund or other compensation for their "ruined" dream vacation even though they knew in advance this is hurricane season, did not purchase trip insurance, saw the forecast and came anyway.

saw the forecast and came anyway.

I hope not. I'm expecting to not even have maid service for a few days. I assume they will be very shorthanded.

I only wrote what I did, because I'm hoping that if people make a decision to come (which some may not agree with) that judging stop and people just come together.

At this time we are no longer sure if we are or aren't coming. We were going to fly tomorrow, but am waiting until Friday, hoping we'll have more info on where the hurricane is going.

We've packed our raingear, water and flashlights, as well as a couple of simple, not needing to be cooked meals.

Disney told me they are all set on rooms, won't be taking further ressie's, so if I come or don't, my room won't be available. I talked with the CM twice tonight after wondering if my ressie is preventing a local from a place to stay.

Sorry you are feeling the stress...and hope good news on the actual path comes soon.

Quite honestly after sitting here and watching the latest news I cannot fathom wanting to come here to fla on vacation this weekend. since you are- thats good you are prepared. its going to be a long weekend. Its not looking good by the 5am advisory and the winds may even pick up more to a category 5. Its not something to take lightly and Im not sure what type of vacation you are really going to have after this hurricane hits. Im urging my family to leave while I have to stay and work. Im scared about this one and do not want my family to be harmed in anyway. god bless and be safe

Here is a link from our local news: its going to be hitting fla all weekend.
