I'm so-o-o sad! I got some unexpected time off and thought I'd make a quick trip "home" for a few days starting Dec. 10. Member services told me there are NO studios or one bedrooms at ANY of the resorts in the park!! I'm on the waitlist, so maybe something will open. :confused3

You waited too late to get a room. I thought all members knew that early December goes real fast and gets booked up solid byAugust if not earlier. I'd bet there are bunches of people ahead of you on the waitlist.

Although it wouldn't be cheap you might want consider going with a regular hotel room. Rent your points and do a reservation for cash or just use the points.

Basically the same thing happened to me. First, I booked a room at a value resort ($59.00 a night). Second, what I did was got on the wait list for any resort and had them call when they had 2 consecutive nights. I was fortunate that they called me three weeks ago that my wait list came thru. I already had my value resort confirmation in hand and just received my confirmation for my home resort so I called and cancelled the value resort reservation. My plan was if the entire time did not come thru was to use the nights at DVC that did come thru and move back and forth if needed.

I also did this at the end of February, making my reservation in late December, it worked. For this upcoming trip I made my reservation in July and couldn't get what I wanted, I have been patiently waiting and calling, calling and calling. Don't be afraid to call them weekly. Wishing you the best of luck on your reservation, mine was 12/04 - 12/11 :wizard: .

Maybe you will get lucky and they will have some cancels at the 31 day mark

Good luck

Unfortunately, you are trying to go at a busy time for DVC members. But more importantly, you are inside of 60 days, and it is my belief that most of what is left over goes to cash reservations. I've heard different senarios on how this works, but the bottom line for me is that it is hard to book with points inside the 60 day window. I am willing to bet you could book for cash. Common sense would lead you to believe that belonging to a "vacation club", you could decide late in the game to just make a call, pack up and go but it really doesn't work that way. :sad2:

just because at 60 days it goes to cash - doesn't mean you can't book a DVC resort - you can I have done it often.

Dec is the problem.

lots and lots of DVC member go in Dec. each year there are most of us going then. It is a wonderful time to go - decorations, shows, special events - it is GREAT!!!

but last minute reservations - no - it is probably the busiest time at any of the DVC resorts with DVC members.

you could get a cancellation!!!!

I would try for a non-DVC resort - the resort board is reporting that Dec is filling up fast.

You know, we were just at the BCV for 5 nights and there were several rooms vacant!
We were there from a W-Monday. The other couple who was with us even commented on the rooms not being used. We could tell because mousekeeping at the BCV tilts their chairs against the rails on the decks and we noticed many never moved and drapes not opened, lights not on. We know for a fact there were 4 rooms right by us vacant the entire time

I had no idea that early Dec. was such a popular time! I had thought it might be slower between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Guess I'll have to rethink what to do with my time off. :sad2:

It's a popular time for the DVC resorts, but it is still a slower time for the parks.

Hope something works out for you.

Yes, early Dec is brutal. I, like you, tried to book last year
around Dec 1st thru 3rd with no luck. I spoke to a woman at SSR bus stop who told me she was not a DVC member but found her accomodations on line for cash after I had tried to book with points. Yeah, you can book within 60 days, that's true, but I wouldn't count on it during busy times like early Dec., that's what I was trying to say. :)

I am on the wait-list for DVC for Dec. 7th - 10th. In the mean time I tried to book non-DVC & there is absolutely nothing available on site. I did eventually manage to get a room at WL through a travel agency that had blocked rooms, but it took going through quite a few on-line agencies, triple AAA, etc. before I was able to get something at all & it was not cheap. Oh well at least we are going, but I did not realize the beginning of Dec. was so busy either.

I was also looking around that time and got the same answer. I was looking forward to seeing how everything is decorated for Christmas. Oh well, may have to try January or Feb just to get away!
