No Room At the AKL - ? dealing w/cro

So, There is no availability for one room one night - any kind of room - they said they are completly booked (9/29) at AKL. Does that seem strange? Is it because as some have said they are under-booking because of construction so they can move people who are not happy with their room?

I am thinking about calling every day to check. When I called today, I gave them the "story" - which is adding a room only 1 nt at end of package, blah blah blah.

Not sure why they do this, but the reservationist will go over every detail of the package before answering a simple availability question!

Is it better to just call as if you don't have any reservation to check on something? I wish there was a button to press for "quick questions" !!!

I could not find any availability at AKL through the end of 2007 for any night on line!! I think they may have stopped taking reservations because of construction and apparently are offering upgrades to quite a few people to get them to move to other resorts because they have booked more rooms than they plan to have available. My guess is they MAY open up some rooms closer to dates as they see what construction does, but that is purely conjecture on my part. If all else fails I really bet when you arrive if you asked to be able to extend 1 extra night they might let you, but if you are on a package that idea will probably not work. If you are on a room only basis it might.

Thanks for the responses. After seeing all these new threads about AKL in the past couple of days, it looks like construction is what is going on, and not that the rooms are all gone! At least with September being a ways off, I can keep an eye on these boards to know exactly what is going on with that construction!

Mary, I think it may also have to do with the fact of wanting to stay only 1 night. being where they are moving people around etc. I think they are just not taking 1 nighters by the sounds.

Just an update here! Was able to add another night of free dining (8th) at POFQ. So with another dining choice to make, what would be a better choice than Boma?!! That way we can spend some time at AKL.

They had wide open dinner times available. This (to me anyhow), seems to confirm that they are doubtfully that booked on that day, and that I may have a chance later to get that one night there.
