I just read that starting July 28 the Swan/Dolphin will no longer be charging a daily resort fee and that the in-room coffee and newspaper will now be complimentary.
I wonder if this has an effect on the internet charge as it wasn't mentioned.

Good question!

We'll be there over Labor Day- so we'll be finding out then...

They may not be charging the resort fee anymore, but I do think that they charge for parking now. Maybe someone here can confirm this.

I was surprised when I read no more resort fee. I just booked for Thanksgiving a few days ago using the SPG number and when I booked I was verbally told about the resort fee. I hear they are charging for parking now so I guess it evens out in the end. :)

Well I'll be there soon so I'll find out. I heard that all charges will now be ala carte. Seems they received alot of complaints about the resort fee. If certain items are ala carte, however, I'm wondering what is worse, that separate fee or the resort fee.....

Wow, they charge for parking for guests staying there? I knew there was a parking fee now if you dine there but it would tick me off to pay parking fee if I was a hotel guest. It is not as if they are big city hotels with limited parking.

According to All Ears newsletter they are charging $8 per day to use the health club now. That makes it back for them on me, I use it every morning.

I bet they will also charge for internet access which we also use.

Ah well, it's good news fo rpeople who don't use either I guess.

Well, actually parking is quite limited at most WDW Resorts and the Swan was one of the worst. Don't get me wrong I don't approve of this action. In fact I think it stinks! Just raise the rates to whatever it needs to be and stop nickle and diming me already.

Just for informational purposes, all three Universal/Lowes hotels charge $7.00 per day for parking...

Well I just found out that word is the internet use at the Swan/Dolphin will be $10.99 per 24 hour period but it's not definite yet. Time starts to count down the minute you log in.
At this point I'd think I'd rather pay the resort fee because now the health club is going to charge $8.00 and the resort fee was cheaper just on the health club use and internet alone.

This will end up being a perfect example for the saying "watch out what you wish for..."

S/D always said the fee covered popular services and was cheaper than paying a la carte BUT a lot of guests said they didn't use the services and didn't want to pay.

S/D, IMHO, should be basing the amenities on what the Disney deluxe hotels provide as opposed to other Starwood properties. Health club and parking should be included but internet access should be extra.

I think $10.99 per 24 hour period is alot, unless you sit in your room all day. I only use the internet to check my e-mails which doesn't take me more than one hour.

We stayed at the Swan last month.
Parking was $7.00 per day whether you took the car out or not.
They'lll probably raise it since they are dropping the resort fee.

SO for folks like you and I who use both, it's now more expensive... YUCK! I am sorry but charging for the health club is just petty. I figure I now have to pay $7 to park, $8 for the health club bringing up the cheaper rate when compared to Disney hotels where both of those are free.
