Looking at the regular crowd calendar and many May weekdays are "sold out" for multi-day tickets. Seems open for magic key holders. I know the park is always crowded now, but does this mean super crowded?

I thought they were going to “full capacity” so it seems strange to me

From my experience since Friday, Disneyland was super crowded Friday afternoon, mostly from people saving spots for the parade. Other than that, Monday was busier than the weekend and Tuesday was even busier. But on Monday, there was a private event in California Adventure which may have affected crowds. I think there were also some schools on a later spring break leading to elevated weekday crowds.

Sunday after fireworks, the parks were relatively empty. Even rides like Big Thunder and Space Mountain were posted 10 minute waits but actually even less than that.

Disney has been prioritizing Keyholders a big more lately with reservations which actually means that parts of the day will not be that crowded even though the days are fully booked. Rope drop seems less crowded than in the past.

Tuesday evening was crazy packed! We ended up going to Hearthstone for dinner & a drink and then left.

As a magic key holder, are you able to go to the parks on dates that show sold out for day passes or multi day passes? We held off on booking tickets as we were waiting to make sure we could go and now our dates are sold out. If we were to buy magic keys, is it possible that we could still go our dates? Hope that makes sense.

If the Magic key still has reservations available (and is not blocked out) than yes. If you stay at a Disney hotel, you should most likely still be able to book your dates, they pull from a different “bucket”.

Interesting! Thanks Whistlebee. We were considering buying magic keys, but I didn't realize this could be a benefit to us right away, I assumed all reservations came from the same system.

But you can only book 4 days right? So we wouldn't be able to do 5 days as planned. But we could keep our dates we want to go. :scratchin
