Hey, anyone know anything about this? We are at WDW now. We are having a great time, but I'm a little perplexed.

I went to buy pretzels in Future World and the DDP was down for the vendor. Fine, I'll pay cash. So I paid cash and asked for a receipt. I was told they don't give receipts for cash purchases. Now it's only $8, not $800 but it's the principal of it.

At the end of the night, granted it was late, so I'm sure guest relations was ready to close down. I did speak to someone there but they definetly were placating me. So I talked to the concierge at the hotel and he was so nice. He explained he couldn't give me a credit since I didn't have a receipt. Exactly, I have no proof I bought the pretzels.

So does anyone know anything about this? I am going to go back to guest relations tomorrow morning and see if I can get someone to listen. It just seems silly that they won't give a receipt (I'm sure a cost savings measure proposed by some accountant that doesn't interact with guests, I've worked in finance for over 20 years, I know them.)

Just curious.

ABSOLUTLY FALSE!

A reciept can be had for every purchase!

What do you remember about the transaction? Do you have a CM's name? Location? Time and Date? PM me if you dont mind.

Actually, the Register System won't print out receipts for Cash Purchases on the Food Carts anymore. Very few people were taking them, so Disney went ahead and disabled it as an "Environmental initative".

There's no way for the Cart Host or Hostess to override it at the POS itself.

That seems odd to me. :confused3

Seems like there should be an override button for people who want reciepts.

My thoughts exactly...when I buy lunch the individual won't give me a receipt, but if I ask, they'll print one for me, just choosing to "print" last transaction.

I stand corrected. I contacted a friend over in Outdoor Foods at EPCOT, and yes, the carts no longer print reciepts for cash transactions. It's part of the "Global initative to reduce paper waste".

I can understand the new policy, but there really should be a button you can hit that will print you a reciept if you want one.

Thanks for the info O'Mike. Not having a receipt would be a problem for me in some instances. Good to know to avoid the carts if that is going to be an issue at any given time.

Generally if the cart is having issues processing CC or DDP, they sometimes give it to you for free. I've had in happen a couple times. Many people don't carry cash anymore, and especialy like pretzels in the MK, there's very few carts around the park. I asked for a pretzel and the person told me, sorry the computer is down, and I said that the CC was the only thing I had. There was nothing to say that the CC machine was down when I got in line.
I also wound up with a free lemonade slush one time because they couldn't get my room key to work for the DDP. The guy just handed me back my card and said "thank you" with no reciept. When I went to the bakery to get the last of my snacks, I found out I had one left.

Remember way back when... when the carts still only accepted cash?? Or what about the toll booths, at one point they only accepted cash too.

You can't blame an accountant. Accountants love receipts. Receipts help to insure that the cashier isn't pocketing the cash. There is no reason for them not to give you a receipt.

Knowing Disney, the accountants will win over on the green folks, and this problem will be fixed soon! It's just a matter of programing the registers with a "print reciept" button.

That's almost as bad as the convenience store on the corner of my street. If you buy something with cash and the change they owe you is less than 25 cents, 9 out of 10 times they won't give it to you unless you ask for it. :headache:

We are now on our way back north, we only made it as far as Jacksonville, since we decided to hit the parks one last time on our way out of town. Anyway, I spoke to a cast member on Friday, she was very helpful and ended up giving us snack credits. They are looking into it and have had other complaints. My issue was I was on DDP and the hotel would have given me credit but couldn't because I couldn't produce a receipt.

DP just pointed out that it's rather amusing that this is a green intiative as it seems we got reams of paper for all of our other transactions especially being on the dining plan.

Just overheard today, the WDW logo is comming off all reciepts to save that inch of paper on each one. Who knows......:confused3

Mike, if they take off the logo it will save 2 inches. I happen to have a Mara receipt on my desk right this second, and I happened to have a ruler next to it. If they just print the name of the shop and lose the big castle logo I can see how that will add up to MILES of saved paper. Good for WDW! :thumbsup2 (Good for them losing the logo. No receipts for cash, espeically when the guest ASKS for one, is a problem.)

As dumb as it sounds, I'm going to miss the logos on the receipts. :guilty:

I'm with you. There's something about coming home after a wonderful trip to Disneyland and I pull out all 273 receipts from the weekend and total up the 1000's of dollars I spent, while I tearfully look at the Castle/logo on the receipt.

Seriously though, I do love going through the receipts when I get home. Reminds me of all the fun we had.
