Just received an email from a DISfriend on the Magic today who informed me that no one is being allowed to rebook! They are being told that they have to wait til they get their 25% voucher in the mail to rebook.

IF they have to wait for their voucher for as long as we are being told that we will wait for our refund, then.........

Guess that also means no onboard credits.

Not necessarily Rae.
On a 4 day cruise I'm wondering if they are still so swamped with everything they can't deal with the rebookings and will take the fact you have the 25% voucher as proof you WERE onboard and will give you the obc. Probably will be a time limit AFTER you get the voucher though.
I know you're P.O.ed with DCL right now Rae ;)
Give them a chance. You may be right but they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

You are correct, my dear friend! Thanks for reminding me who I am and why I am feeling this way!!!

They are still way ahead with the 25% discount. On a future $4,000 cruise with this discount would only be $3,000. Using the standard 10% discount and the $200 obc, they would be at $3,600 less $200 obc = $3,400.

They are ahead $400 by using the 25% discount and they don't have to sit in line waiting for Donna!

Hey, I love waiting in line for Donna!!!! She's one of the truly great people on the Magic!

What I was referring to was the fact that my friends wanted to rebook using the 25% so they could get onboard credit - they weren't able to book therefore they won't get the credit. Yes, 25% is a lot better than 10%!!!

Rae

Yeah, Donna my be a wonderful person, but I HATE to sit there for 45 minutes waiting my turn just to see what the prices are. I did get smart and leave her notes the last time, but I wish there was a better way!

Just think, EVERYONE will get the 25% off. If you can't rebook on the ship, then normally you are SOL. If they feel so strongly about the OBC, then after they rebook at 25% off, they should take the 200$ out of that savings and apply it to their account right away.

The reason behind this might be that DCL will not usually combine a shipboard credit with a discounted reservation.

Don't think that is normally the case with DCL though Kaa.
I know I have always been able to combine the normal 10% discount along with the $200 obc.
The only difference with this is that it is a 25% discount because of the hurricane.

According to a cruiser who came back from the 9/7 cruise the reason why no one else could book on board is because of the abuse so many cruisers were giving Donna. So many people were yelling at her (like it was her fault :( ) that she was in tears and didn't report back for her next scheduled time. Very very sad.

I agree that this is very, very sad. Lets hope that folks keep things in perspective and that Donna gets some love and consideration from the folks on this cruise even though they are sailing a changed itinerary. If I remember correctly, her desk is right by the traffic flow so I can understand that she's in an "exposed" position where angry people can take their frustrations out on her. Hopefully NOT DISers. I hope we're more gracious than that.

Now that is sad. Donna is such a sweet person. She definately doesn't deserve that kind of treatment!

We saw Donna getting a bit of backlash on our cruise as well. One moment that stands out is when we were going through customs in Galvenston... due to DCL trying to get the folks off who were flying out of Houston....the lines were terribly long. Folks were being quite vocal about the lines. When we got up to Donna, I gave the room number and both my husband & I wished Donna a great day. She stopped, looked up, smiled and said "thank you so much"!! I have to imagine that the cruise after ours was tons worse.

It's not the $200 obc that gets me about not being able to re-book onboard. What I'm concerned about is the increase in DCL prices between when we were cruising and when we can book at the 25% discount.

I have NO complaints about not getting a $200 obc or 10% off. But, as we all know fares for DCL cruises can change dramatically in a very short period of time. So, being able to book now as opposed to later can make a difference. Doesn't take much for fares to change a bunch. :)

I'm of the mind to re-book ASAP and apply 25% to that later. If they won't, then if fares haven't changed dramatically I'd cancel and and book with the 25% off. Take it all a step at a time. lol

Hey, if people yelled at Donna that is certainly not called for BIG TIME. I spent at least 3 hours checking several things with Guest Services. Never crossed my mind to be angry with anyone. The last time I was there I was disappointed they couldn't correct the problem at that time and I had to take care of it by calling reservations. I did forget to say thank you like I normally do. I felt awful for not doing that later.

Things just puzzle me at times. Maybe I'm not very smart. But, I can't understand how some administrative errors occurred with our reserataions. Still scratching my head. lol

Hey! I'm Happy! :)
