No Professional Makeup Trial Run?

Are there any brides out there who are hiring a professional makeup artist for their wedding day, but are unable to actually have a trial run? I was originally going to do my own makeup for my wedding, but have since decided to just go with a professional. The only problem is I won't be able to ever do a trial run (I won't be in Florida until my wedding!). Do you trust their ability from photos from real brides? Do you discuss the look you're going for the day of your wedding or have correspondence with them through phone/email before your wedding? Plus, what is better - air brushed or regular make up? I wear mineral makeup so I have no idea what's better for the wedding and photography!

I was looking into Beaute Speciale and Patricia Legune because of their strong reviews on this site...any other suggestions? Since I can't do a trial run, I want to make sure I'm going with the best. I've seen some of the pictures from both artists and they are wonderful...I just can't figure out how to work out the details without a trial run. Thanks!!

I went with Patricia and thought she was great. And we didn't have a trial run either. The first thing she asked me was "lets see your inspiration pictures" and then discussed them with me. What was it that I liked about them, was there anything I wanted different. Both my makeup and the MOH's came out wonderfully, not too overdone and just like we asked. I'd use her again in a second!

I work in television and get to work with the most fantastic hair / makeup artist team. Her name is Debbie Holland and she's amazing. Asides from tv and movies, she does a lot of weddings. Her partner, Melissa, does my makeup and is awesome! I've worked with her for over a year (at least once a week) and every week we change it up, I ask for smokey eye, natural, go crazy.. adn she does it. Very easy to communicate with them and they're actually less pricey than most hair & makeup people in town. Debbie is also a certified Mac Makeup artist and does airbrushing too (which she doesn't charge extra for right now)

We were married in November 2008 and went down in May 2008 for our planning session. At that time I did a hair and makeup trial. I had Ana and I highly recommend her.

My suggestion would be to do a hair and makeup trial at home and make sure to get lots of pictures. Maybe have a before picture and then some during and then a few after.

If you are doing your own hair, maybe just get a make over done. You can even go to your local department store and pick a brand of makeup and have them do a make over. You can purchase some of the items that you like and bring them down for your wedding. Definately take some pictures of you made up and the make up person in Florida will be able to go by those pictures.

Ana is AMAZING! she cn do anything you want. I had her with no trial and she gave me everything I invisioned my hair to be. She takes her time and does everything in steps showing you exactly what she is doing at every turn so that way if you dont like something she has no problem changing it right away, she is great I can't say enough about her skill. I did regular make up with Beaute Speciale as well and it ending up looking great. It lasted all day and I didnt even need the touch ups they gave me.

I plan on doing a trial run the week of my wedding. I can tell you that you definitely want to book now because i contacted several people and some of them were booked already for my wedding, and that was a few months ago for my september wedding. I'm certain you will look wonderful. Both of the people you are deciding between do amazing work. Good luck with everything.

Me!! I actually had a trial back in September but it went so bad I decided to use someone different for the wedding. From the reviews I am very confident it will go ok without a trial.

I'm feeling more confident about going with an artist without a trial. I've seen so many beautiful pictures that I know they are obviously good at what they do. I've spoken with Ana at Beaute Speciale and so far so good. I've figured out the difference between the airbrushing and regular foundation which is also good. Their prices are a little more up my alley for make up so I think I might go with them (especially since they don't charge for the travel fee to Disney!). Ana mentioned bringing pictures of what I'm looking for, so I think that's a great way to convey what I want. Thank you!!

Don't worry, you're in good hands. Ana did my make-up for our epics and it came out awesome. I didn't bring any pictures and didn't really give her much guidance but she captured exactly the look I wanted. So I can imagine if you have some examples it will be even better!

I just booked Ana for my wedding in December 2010 and I am not having a trial run either. I have heard a lot of great reviews from this website, so I am just showing up with some hair styles and I'll let her decide in regards to the make up. I think we will both be fine...
