No problems with Teachers or School

I am sooo thankful DD11 has the teachers that she has. I read all these problems with schools and not wanting to follow 504's and IEP's. Monday of this week we had a parent-teacher conf to decide what would be appropriate for her LD. They are awesome!

DD14 is in high school, so I don't know her teachers well, but they all seem great, too!

Good here with youngest DS in high school and middle DS in college! :thumbsup2

Once we got dd in the flow of 7th grade and middle school all is good here! No problems EVER with my Elementary school teachers and kids. Love the school, the staff and the philosophy they use.

We're pretty go with the flow too. I'm the odd ball out in the school too because I don't go switch my kids teachers at the drop of a hat. We told them all that you sometimes don't like all the teachers just like in the real world you may not like all of your bosses or coworkers so get used to it now. Seems to be working since all 3 kids are thriving with different teachers.

Glad there are some of us who are having good years with school. Oh but I could do without 2-4 hours of homework a night

Everything is okay here! I was worried about DS starting HS, especially with all the AP and Honors classes, but so far....he LOVES school! This is a first! It seems that he thrives on HW...

nope, no problems here. I always try to make friends with the teacher right from the start.

I worked a clerical position at a local high school during the late 80s/early 90s, while going to UCLA. One thing I noticed...

The parents of the straight A students with good attitudes, never went into complain...
I do not have a straight A student-as a matter of fact my DD8 is developmentally delayed and has severe learning disabilities. Every day is a struggle for her. (and me and her teachers). I will say that her k teachers, her 2nd grade teachers and her 3rd grade teachers have all been wonderful. Her 1st grade classroom teacher (not her special ed teacher) had a personality I did not care for-she was very judgemental (IMO)and used the kids as "good" and "bad" examples in her teaching method. However,I would never complain. I don't have to like the teacher-that's not part of her job. Besides,it is good for kids to realize they need to perform in circustances that are less than perfect. All of the teachers have always done their best and mostly have gone way beyond what I would ever expect. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the teachers and I always support them. I am just thankful that my daughter has such wonderful dedicated teachers! The only time I go in is to ask what I can do to help her or provide some assitance for the teachers if they need it! Teachers are special people with a true calling and for that I am forever grateful.

We had a ton of problems and complaints about our kids' school and the whole school district in Oregon last year. In fact, it was a big factor in our decision to move to N.C.
We have no complaints at all this year. So far, we've been extremely impressed with the schools and the teachers here.

We are having a fantastic year and everything is going very very well!!! :cool1: We've had to move to a private school to find one that was good for our family however... so that might make a difference.....

Can I just say on a side note? We have some of the best teachers this year, we just had curriculum night two nights ago :)

So far, so good at DS's school! I'm pleased w/his teachers and what they're doing.

I really like Dd's teacher, more importantly Dd loves her and really enjoys going to school everyday.

We are having a great year. The teacher called me this morning and we talked about some issues and I really feel like we are on the same page. I'm hoping things keep going so well!

Everything is going well here. The PTO fundraisers are all completely optional with no pressure for the kids or parents to sell stuff. DS's Kindergarten teacher seems to have a good rapport with the kids. I'm going to be volunteering with the class in the computer lab starting in a couple weeks!

All is well for 7th grade (start of middle school) for DD. She's loving it.
I am not sure about one teacher sho gives some CRAZY extra credit in my book but I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

My DD is getting moved to another 3rd grade class. Yesterday I got a call from the assistant principal about it. She went on to tell me that some children will have to be moved and my DD was one of the "chosen ones". :bitelip: I just wanted to know who her new teacher will be, then came the happy news... DD will have the same teacher DS had in 3rd grade. :thumbsup2 We love her, so it's all good. :thumbsup2 DD adapts easily, so I'm not concerned about the change. When I explained to her about the upcoming change and who her new teacher is going to be, she said, "Yea!" :thumbsup2
The truth is that I was a little disappointed when DD wasn't initially assigned to her class. Now, here we are, I guess it was meant to be! :goodvibes

DS#2 is doing well. He has a project about WWII that is due next month, but he was so excited to work on his that he finished it right away.

My oldest likes his high school way better than middle school. :thumbsup2 The kids are a lot more mature, so he fits right in. :thumbsup2

Things are fine this year. Now if you had asked last year.....

No problems here what so ever. DS in 1st grade has his same teacher as last year with a 1/2 combo class, and DD is in Kindergarten. I have the ability to take off every Wednesday from work and spend the day at school, morning with DS and afternoon with DD. I even eat lunch with the kids and help out the noon moms while I am in the lunch room.

I am pretty close with DS teacher since he had her last year and I helped in the class then, that I will even do some little things for her at home since she is pregnant with her 2nd and due in January. She has even asked if we have vacations planned, as she wants me to be in the class once a week when there is a sub to help her out too. So I finally did have to break it to her that we are going to WDW for two weeks in May. She was great about it, saying DS will be reading great by then and will have to journal the trip for home work. She knew that our trip last year had to be cancelled due to my dad being diagnosed with cancer.

DD is in a kinder class with 24 kids, so her teacher is more than happy to have me there helping out every week. I just need to get my DD to stop trying to be right where I am every second that I am in the room. When she comes, about 3-4 of the other girls in the class come also.
