3 years probation, and 480 hours of Community Service, plus Psychiatric Counseling.

That psychiatric help will be a good thing. Maybe she can figure out what motivated her to do such a stupid thing as shoplifting.

She has until the beginning of April to fulfill her Community service...so virtually all her weekdays will be spent at this for the next 3 months . She also pays a couple of fines and has to pay for the $6k she stole from Saks.

I don't think that the DIS HANG 'EM HIGH CLUB will be happy with her sentence:cool:   ......

Not true Eros. I'm usually part of the Hang 'Em High Club but I don't think she deserved all the media hype she got.

She stole some stuff. She got punished. Christ, look at what these other people did - many of whom did not get near the publicity Wynona did:

Other stars who have survived and overcome scandal:

Rob Lowe: a 1988 sexually explicit videotape featuring Lowe and a minor slapped the star with 20 hours of community service.

Hugh Grant: was arrested in 1995 for lewd conduct when he was discovered with a prostitute, Divine Brown, in his car. He was dating model and actress Elizabeth Hurley at the time.

Charlie Sheen: has endured a much-publicized and scandalous addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Halle Berry: was placed on probation after facing a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of a traffic accident.

Robert Downey Jr.: spent time in prison for cocaine possession and was then plagued by more drug-related arrests.

Nick Nolte: had a reputation as a heavy drink and in September, 2002, was arrested because officers thought he was driving under the influence. Tests eventually showed he was under the influence of a “date rape” drug known as GHB.

Singer Bobby Brown: was arrested on Thursday in Atlanta on drug and traffic charges. He also spent 26 days in jail in 2000, after he violated probation relating to a 1996 drunk-driving charge.

Johnny Depp: Winona Ryder’s ex-fiance once destroyed a $1,200-a-night hotel room in New York City in 1994. He was arrested for criminal mischief.

Brad Renfro: the young and critically acclaimed actor was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana in 1998. He landed himself in even more trouble when he tried to steal a yacht in 2000. He got two years of probation for that incident.

Courtney Love: engaged in a very famous dalliance with drugs but still managed to keep landing movie roles and recording music.

Most of these people are destroying themselves through drug and alcohol abuse - and may very well one day destroy another person, as Halle Berry almost did.

Wynona stole some clothes.

:rolleyes

I'm not saying stealing is better than drunk driving, I'm just saying the punishment should fit the crime.

How many non-celebrity shoplifters go to prison? I think a fine and community service is about it.
