No princess since Mulan...

I meant the first "good" movie since Lilo & Stitch.

I forgot about Brother Bear......which I guess goes to prove your point.

And don't forget Princess Leia (maybe not a Disney princess, but she did appear in a parade). Of course, I'm not sure how George Lucas handles royal titles - she was the daughter of a Senator. Queen Amidala abdicated to become a Senator...

Disney could also have "honorary" princesses, or "princess equivalents" (solves the Pocahontas issue). Mulan could have been "created" a noble for her service to her country...

Oh no, Leia was royal. See, on Alderaan (her home planet), her father ruled. He was their Senator to the Galactic Senate as well. So yes, she was totally royal.

On the issue of Amidala- she didn't abdicate. On Naboo (her home planet), they elect their royalty- it doesn't follow blood lines. After her term was completed, she became senator and a new queen took over.

[/nerdness]

Wasn't Snow White's father the king? Thus making her stepmother the evil queen? I think Snow White and Aurora were princesses by birth, Cinderella and Belle were not, they married into royalty. Mulan is not a princess.

Funny that we are so serious about our princess facts!! LOL!

Princess stuff is serious business ;) :thumbsup2

I can see forgetting Treasure Planet & Home on the Range... but Brother Bear was actually pretty good. I really like the music.

Only thing I liked about Home On The Range is the k.d. lang song.

Didnt care for Brother Bear.

Two things:

1) Any good song is negated by the fact it came from a Rossane Barr Arnold voiced movie.
2) Is Lilo & Stitch considered a good movie? I question this premise.

Hey! I love Lilo and Stitch!! I like seeing real sized people in movies, with characters i can relate to!

Real sized people? Are your feet bigger than your head? They may be real sized if you are the Incredibles...

The first time I saw Lilo and Stitch in the theatres I thought it was awful. But it slowly grew on my and :gasp I even kinda just a little sorta like a tiny bit the attraction! :scared1: :scared1:

There were some things I loved about Lilo and Stitch.

Lilo is just plain funny. She makes a remark about feeding the fish peanut butter sandwiches because he can change the weather. Ok...I think it's funny.

I also think the backgrounds are gorgeous. Love the beautiful pastel scenery.

I also like the fact that Lilo and Noni are not "Princess" shaped. I dont know if it will ever help little girls have a healthier body image...but it's a good start. Not everyone is shaped like Jasmine.

Hey, not all of us a Aurora sized!! I like the fact they have puppy fat, and that Lilo looks like a little girl, not a barbie doll, she doesn't look as though she has grown up too fast, like a lot of films do these days (Sorry Hanna Montana, but I'm looking at you!!)

I am a bottom heavy girl, I like the idea that you don't have to be stick thin to get to be in a movie (I know Mrs Incredible is a pear shape too, but she's a middle age woman. Nani is meant to be a twenty one year old woman, and she's real sized!)

And there is nothing wrong with big feet! I wear a women's size 9 in the US. At least I don't blow over in the wind! :lmao:

Yes, Snow White was a princess from the start. Mulan is not a princess and she doesn't marry a prince. She is one of the best characters ever though! Very much like Belle, don't you think?

Emperor's New Groove is an excellent movie! It was originally supposed to be a serious movie. Can you believe that?

Brother Bear is SO good, but SO depressing that I NEVER watch it. It's like when Titanic first came out on tape. I would only watch tape 1 before they hit the iceberg. I live in denial. :lmao:

I LOVE LILO AND STITCH! My dog's name is Lilo. It was between that and Stitch though I think Stitch better suits her. It is so funny (I like when Stitch tears up Lilo's drawing and she says, "that's from my blue period!") and touching (Nani sings the Aloha song to Lilo). I am a fan of traditional animation and I love that the backgrounds are watercolor.

Regina and I debated this. She HATES Lilo & Stitch. Hmmmm. :sad2:
