No Poly Pool Hopping?

Pardon my ignorance but since when was pool hopping stopped at Disney's Polynesian??

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, the Lava Pool and leisure pool at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Anytime DVC villas open at a resort, it is typically removed from the list of places you can pool hop.

I'm surprised that it's apparently still allowed at GF, although their pools aren't that spectacular, but still it's on the monorail and easily accessed from a park, so I'm surprised they left it open. Also allowed at Wilderness Lodge pool. It may have more to do with being able to fence in the pools and feeling like they can control the access more than anything else. So as you see pools fenced in they will be put on the list.

Or it maybe a size, space limit issue? BLT pool isn't that great but there's not much room. VGF pools are spread out with a bunch of seating areas. WL was the same before the new kiddie splash area, not sure what it's like now.

Deck space is really limited at AKV Kidani, BLT and the Poly. I expect that is why those pools have been removed from pool hopping.

You can still hop to the CR pools. Just not the BLT pool.

As more and more pools are restricted is it fair to allow it to pools where it is not reciprocated.

In the case of the Poly, we are staying there in December, and we received a letter yesterday stating that one of the pools at the Poly is closed for enhancement. That may be why there is no pool hopping there.
Here is an excerpt...

The Polynesian East Pool will be closed for enhancement from mid-April 2015 through early 2016. During this

time, you will observe construction taking place and certain pathways and buildings may be unavailable. Noise

may be overheard while this work is being completed, but please rest assured that construction will not begin

until after 9:00am.

While we work our magic, many of our exceptional amenities, including shops and dining experiences, will continue

to be open for your enjoyment. If you wish to swim, our recently-renovated Lava Pool, featuring a zero-depth entry, a

142-foot waterslide and an infinity hot tub, will be available to you, weather permitting.​

IMO pool hoping at Poly may have been limited for a couple reasons
1- small pool area and also new kids area would cause over crowding
2- With remodel of resort it is more of a draw, again causing over crowding
3- Not sure if all the resorts have magic band require to open gates but trying to hop with magic band requirement may not be available

Never understood the appeal of pool hopping. Sorry if I sound sour but leave the pools for the DVC guest staying at those villas. They probably just don,t want to pay someone to make sure only DVC guest at that resort are using that pool.

We have hopped, without kids. We have gone to Contemporary, Jambo House, Poly prior to not being allowed. and Coronado. We have done it when we are spending multiple days at pool, and had a car. We went for a change or to experience resort to see if we wanted to stay. We typically went to pools less crowded than we were staying at, to relax, read, drink, and sleep (usually in that order!).

Our favorite resort pre-DVC was POFQ. The kids love the pool and the beignets at the food court so we are considering pool hopping over there sometime just to visit so I appreciate the pool hopping perk from that perspective. We do miss it even though we have enjoyed the change to stay deluxe now. I would totally buy into a moderate level DVC there if they ever decided to so.

Not really true as others have pointed out. Pool hopping is still permitted at Grand Floridian, Contemporary main pool and many others.

What good is pool hopping again?

We've done it...not often but on occasion. Nice change of pace without paying waterpark fees, switching resorts, etc.

If I counted correctly there are 18 Disney-owned resorts at WDW. Only 4 of them block pool hopping entirely (AKL, BC/YC, AoA and Poly.) That still leaves plenty of variety for those who wish to "hop".

Just do it. The only pool we've actually hopped to is Coronado, which would have been great except all the lovebugs were there that day and it was miserable. Sad. If you regularly stay at the BWV or VWL, you can find that your chairs are full of hoppers from other resorts, and you can't hop back in return. BWV has always been an issue because there ISN'T a lot of deck space and pool chairs, the pool isn't huge, and its walking distance from Epcot for your mid day break.

I'm surprised its still allowed at all at any near park resort. I've always expected it to disappear as a perk.

We've done it a few times (once from SAB back to the Boardwalk, the kids begged for the scary clown slide).

We do it. Have never had a problem. In December of 13 we were staying at POP went over to AOA several times.

Is it fair that a member (staying at a resort that does not allow pool hopping) goes to other pools. It seems to favor those members staying at the restricted resorts. For example members staying at the Polynesian DVC can go to the Grand Floridian but GFV guests can not use the pool at the Polynesian.

I definitely don't think it is fair to people staying at non DVC resorts to have their pool used by members.
