Depending on the time of year - everything/anything is possible. Why not? Just don't expect as much and you won't be disappointed and/or frustrated. Not anywhere close to your scenario but twice we ended up driving straight through and called to see if we could stay a night at a Disney resort instead of being on the road (of course, we did not care where we stayed for the night). Once we stayed at POP and once at Port Orleans (we had DVC booked).

You might not get any "specials/discounts" but it sounds like fun!! When I retire - hoping to just pick up and go sometime.
