What good is breaking your neck to get to The MK if you can't get in??? Yesterday, I saw hundreds if not thousands of people get sent to guest relations because their magic bands didn't work! The turnstiles in front of GS don't even hold a thousand, so it looked like they masking tape and made rows on the ground... Very nice! Complete chaos! They had 3 cast members handling the crowd control, and they had no idea how to handle it! We waited for 2 hours to get it fixed! What do we get for our troubles??? A fastpass! We are supposed to go to HS today and are scared to death it will happen again. What is scary is that my husband just went to get breakfast and his mb wont open the door to our room!!! BACK TO THE FRONT DESK!!!!!

It was so hot, so what did Disney do??? Roll a water stand in the middle of the crowd... To sell! I have never seen anything like it at Disney! Complete disregard for their customers! We just did a 7 night Disney Cruise, so we are big fans of Disney, but we are done!
 

In the past, before MB's, if the gates didn't function properly, they just waved guests through.

Something sounds seriously amiss with this situation.

What did they say was the issue with all of those MB's?

I went through this too, and they will not admit the problem and sometimes put the blame on the guest. I don't understand why they don't think thIs is negatively affecting their guest relation.

Yowzaaa! That is terrible! a safety concern for sure, then all that follows in the frustration and loss of precious time and invested $!
I am very sorry to hear this happened to you and the others, thank you for posting.
I wonder of the hard tickets were working to at least let folks in through the gates? I know the point of MB is the ease but I had planned to have out tix on us just in case....or was the whole system a mess and nothing was working?
I hope the rest of your trip is extra smooth to overshadow the very unmagical start.
 
This sounds stupid but did you try to call tech support while you were waiting? I know the phone number is around here somewhere?

Might have been faster but not sure if tech support can do anything over the phone with a MB.
 
They didn't say what the problem was but I saw the cast member's IPAD (they finally brought out people with IPADS because of the limited help) and it said invalid next to our names??? But between yesterday and this morning our band don't work. None of us can get into our rooms...

UGH!!! When we had problem with my son's band in March, they fixed it right at the front desk of the Contemporary. Wishing you better luck today!
 
Omg, a wave of fear ran through me as we swore we were going to skip this year because of all of this, and caved and booked because of FD again. I am already nervous and we have over 2months till our trip. Good luck, hope you have a great rest of your trip!

I can't believe that Disney management allowed this to happen. Cast members should've been giving away the water with a smile and an apology for the wait!

That's the thing, when they work, they work, great.
But when they don't work, good luck getting it fixed.
 
I am so sorry, OP. I have worries that sort of thing will happen.

I seriously had a dream last night that Disney made an announcement that they were going back to the old FP system because the number of "glitches" they were having were unacceptable and unavoidable. They were putting back/opening up all the old FP- kiosks. I was so relieved in my dream.
