I got the 40% offer anyway

I called tonight to see if they had a pin code for me but there was not one attached to my name. My CM asked how I knew about it and I said that I was out of town on vacation and when I got home I read about it online. He said since I knew about it and asked for it that he could go ahead and offer it to me :) I ended up getting POFQ for $1,300 for 5 nights with the dining plan (2 adults and 2 kids) Now if free dining comes out that will be a better deal (by about $250) but I just couldn't pass this up :thumbsup2 We were planning on staying at POP originally but I decided to splurge on POFQ since I came back from Vegas with some of my bankroll!!!

So it doesn't hurt to call and ask about that deal because you just might get it :)

AHH! Now I have to call and try that tomorrow. I called last night, and no pin for me. But the CM didnt ask me why I was asking or anything. So all you said was you heard it was for 40% off? What dates did you get offered or did you tell the CM when you wanted to go first?

He made it seem like he had a "general" code that he could use for me for the 40% off. After he said that I didn't have a code I said that I was disappointed because the dates that people were getting were in line with when we wanted to go. He asked for my dates and then asked what resorts I was interested in. He then priced them out for me. I was very pleased with the POFQ price.

BTW, it is for a water view room for Sept. 25 - 30th.

Thanks for the details!! 40% off would be just what I need to convince DH to make the trip this fall. We just went last Sept and I am dying to go back already. He is not as excited...yet!:lmao:

The 40% off email code that has been sent out, did not include any dates in September, so I am really surprised you got this. Great deal though and your lucky day.

Good job! :thumbsup2 We just tried the same thing after reading your post, but no Pixie dust for us. The CM wouldn't budge. This was our second attempt today. Have a great trip! :)

Your right, have a horrible head cold and I can barely see. I was looking for the month September and did not check the dates.

Congrats on the great deal and enjoy your trip. :thumbsup2

Please Please PLEASE make sure your ressie is ok.I did the exact same thing Friday, got a nice gentleman whose name started with an R(I dont know how much trouble he is now)
anyway he put me on hold twice, about 10 mins each, and said he was able to get the rate for me.Well I told him to go ahead and book it but I would mail in my payment. He gave me a confirmation number, but it seemed odd as it started with an R a only like 6 numbers.I was so excited I didnt pay much attention.Thanked him and did the happy dance.

Well an hour later I called back, I wanted the mailing address in case my confirm didnt come in the mail. The cm acted so weird, asking a MILLION questions about who said what/how much etc.Come to find out my ressie would have been purged from the system that night or there would have been issues at ckeckin!!It showed they owed me money and that I had booked online-hence the r and ths short number. He said I had NO discount pin or otherwise and there was nothing he could do but he was patching me over to guest services as they had questions also.
She told me they couldnt do anything, offered me Pop at full price and told me the prior ressie had been cancelled and that the cm was in trouble.
I started crying-I am a big baby as I saw our trip go up in flames.I told her we couldnt afford full price --thank you anway and hung up.

Two hours later the phone rang and DH got it. He went in the other room and I asssumed it was for him.20 minutes later he came out, hugged and kissed me and handed me a paper. It was a guest services supv. She had gotten the whole story, told dh I had been on the pphone for over 2 hours for the whole thing, and that Disney wanted to help "Make our dreams come true"They offered us a room at Pop for $55.13 a nice including tax:banana:
So in the end it all worked out, but like she told my husband, we would have gotten to Florida and saw our ressie gone or when we would have mailed a payment they would have caught it and cancelled it.

Sorry for the long story, just dont want to see anyone get stuck.

Thanks for the heads up! I checked online and everything is fine :) I even did the customized maps for the trip. The kids don't know yet that we are going. I'm thinking of keeping this one a secret (although it is so hard to do ;) )

Wait, they gave you a discounted POFQ WITH dining? Generally the dining plan cannot be combined with a discounted room.

Anyone else get lucky with a room discount at CRO AND dining plan? (Sorry if I misread the OP...it DOES say WITH DINING, right?)

Beth

Yep, my discount is with the dining plan. I checked online and the package would be $1,580 without the discount. Wiht the discount it is $1,300.

HayGan- am glad yours is ok!! I could check mine online also and I never saw anything wrong! i hadnt a clue,I guess the big thing is if someone booked ON THE PHONE and they give you a ressie that starts with R there will be problems

I went last year on a discount (Coronado Springs around $100/night) and was on the dining plan. I don't think you can get free dining with a discount, but you can still get the dining plan.

more and more often now they are offering discounts that can be used room only or with packages (with or without dining)

I think the person got the 40% discount off of a package not a room only. I've seen others regarding this special pin discount get offered the 40% off of the room only or 40% off of the package, so you can get either.

that has to be some sort of package??? I know you got dining but did you get tickets as well? $1300 for 5 nights is $260 per night. For a moderate in September.. that is not good.. unless I am missing something here? Aug 5th-Oct 3rd is value season..room only without a discount is $160 + tax for water view.. you are paying $260...:confused3 all of that extra is dining? Like I said, unless I am missing something, you did not get a great deal. I could be wrong but do your math, how can that be 40% off? You said online it was $1580.. 40% off of that is not $1300, it is $948

I'm sorry - I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm very happy for those who get these special deals, but Disney is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Depending on which CM you speak to now dictates whether or not you get a discount???? Absurd.

I called last week to see if a code was attached to my name and was rudely told no and I would have been notified if it was.

I don't condone these pricing games Disney plays. It's not fair. Have a policy and stick to it. AND MAKE SURE ALL YOUR RESERVATION OPERATORS ARE AWARE OF IT!!!!!

Imagine this - You're at Sears buying a washing machine. There's a guy in front of you buying the exact same machine. The sales associate agrees to give him the machine for $399 because the man says he heard someone else got that price. When you ask about any special prices, the sales associate says there's nothing they can do for you and the price is going to be $599.

This is no different.

It is exactly like the washing machine analogy. Especially for those of us who are well informed.
So as much as I would like to see Disney have a simple policy, I would hate the pixie dust not be available for those lucky enough to get it.

I called Friday, was told no code, had my information updated and that was it. Sure would have loved being offered a code, but I wasn't.

Does anyone else think that perhaps the Year of a Million Dreams is coming true for some very lucky DISers?

We must've talked to the same CM. I agree, while it's great that folks are getting great rates, I've been an AP holder for 12 years and renew every year. I'm not one of those folks that get an AP only to get the room discount (but I do that for Unversal STudios). So to think that I have an AP rate for Pop on Feb. 3 for $59, but folks who don't visit like I do several times a year are getting their room for $49 a night is a little troubling. Not how you should be treating your loyal customers, IMHO.
