I had to come here and shout from the rooftops (or the...board tops....) that I JUST BOOKED A TRIP TO DISNEY WORLD 15 MINUTES AGO, AND THE KIDS DON'T KNOW IT!!!
Disneytrip009.jpg

10 days, 9 nights at the Wilderness lodge - woods view. Parkhopper - no waterparks and dining plan. September isn't coming fast enough!!!!

I think if I had a secret like that I would explode!!:yay:

Have a great trip!

Now to paln the magical trip :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2 :) :goodvibes :cool1: :) :thumbsup2 :goodvibes Danny

My DW doesn't know it but I'm planning a 'trip of a lifetime" for 2009. It's going to be really tough keeping it from her. Good luck keeping it from your kids!

I'm doing the surprise trip too for DS8. We're going in May and it was a last minute trip so I don't have as much time to plan. We're leaving on a Friday after school and that's when I plan to make the big announcement:woohoo:

Anyone have suggestions to make this a trip to remember. I've already thought about ordering customized maps off the WDW site and giving them to him so he can look at them on the plane.

Any other ideas

Last year I took my DS (6) for a suprise trip to Disney. Because I have two younger DS, I had told them that I was going away for a few days to a conference.

The night before we were set to leave he ask me: "mommy one day can we go to Disney?" YES I said I promise...

We had to leave for the airport at 5:30am, I woke up my son and asked him if he wanted to come and he said yes... :goodvibes

I didn't want to tell him, I wanted him to be completly surprised :rotfl:

So I had to whisper at the airport check in and at the security check that this was a surprise. Tell were all very understanding. :rolleyes1

We got to MCO, DS commented on all the mickeys he say wow, still didn't have a clue. Got on the magic express bus, the "movie" started he was happy to see it and was saying I want to go there. He still didn't get it :rotfl2:
The woman if front turned and said to him "are you excited?" He said "for what??" "Well to go to Disney?" Just at that time we passed the Welcome to Walt Disney World Sign. His face was priceless, he in disbelief

That only made it a vacation to remember, he loved that it was all a surprise.

We had so much fun, we went back this pass January with the whole family. Now I'm planning one for next year and it will be a surprise for all 3 kids :cool1:

Congrats!!!! I can't wait until I can book. It is such a great feeling.

Good luck keeping the secret!! I said once I made the plans I wouldn't tell my DS5, but then a friend loaned me a planning Disney book and while he ate lunch before taking him to preschool I showed him a couple of things. Now he likes to find the mail to see if "Mickey" has sent us something. Today was big, he got luggage tags from Mickey!! I couldn't keep the secret, but I'm as big of a kid as he is!!:flower3:

Hey PAJules - I discovered the Keepers of the secret thread (search KOTS) - that has tons of good ideas for how to surprise them. One of the special things we're doing while we're down in Disney is going to Chip and Dale's campfire sing-a-long. It's free, and there is a movie afterwards. And you can make s'mores. When my son finds out about this, he's going to be  !

For all you moms who have planned surprise trips, "YOU"RE THE BEST":flower3: :cheer2:  :lovestruc

Isn't it funny we do all the planning and surprising and wouldn't it be great if someone surprised us?

We're booked for next December 6 - but we're not gonna tell the DD until her birthday - November 6 - when we give her a box with a "countdown chain" in it ... :wizard:

I'm surprising the DW, too - she thinks we're spending the first 4 nights at All-Star Movies and then moving over to AKL ... Uh-uh: all 7 nights at the AKL!!! I'm hoping I can keep her in the dark until we get on the ME bus at MCO (but the yellow ME luggage tags may be a giveway ...)

I was surprised by my parents when I was a kid! Thats what inspired us to surprise our kids! I hae the whole story in my pre-trippie.

We are going for our 9th surprise trip. We never tell our kids. Each and every trip has been a surprise. They have now asked that we don't tell them. They like being dragged out of bed put on a plane. The flight goes so quickly while they are planning their days. It is a bit tricky planning a packing, but not having to listen to them bug me aobut how long till we leave is worth it!

The year dh and I booked a surprise trip for dd it was sooooo difficult to keep quiet about it for 4 whole months but sooooo worth it the day we told her we were leaving for WDW TODAY! Have a great time!!!!!!!!!

What's even funnier about planning this surprise is that despite all of our talking about the trip, DS still has no idea we're actually going. :cool1:

In fact, he's sitting here watching The Incredibles movie right now on the Disney Channel and I'm sitting about 15 feet away on the computer typing this up. :rotfl:

I've already gotten lots of great ideas from everyone on this site. Just yesterday I got HD Mickey Heads to make luggage tags, the kits were just $1.98 at Target for 5 tags and then I got .99 Disney stickers at Dollar Tree.

I also grabbed 5 packs of glow bracelets at Dollar Tree, pack of 6 for $1. I was going to buy the necklaces too, but they're too big to fit in backpack. I think I might look for glow pins too. They're small enough to take into the park. DS can get very impatient waiting, and I thought he could give them to other kids while we wait for Wishes/Illuminations to start the night's we have them planned.

Laura i couldn't keep it a sercert:)
Will you be able to keep it a secret till September from the kids. What a wonderful surprise when they finally find out:thumbsup2

He he - It's the same way for me!! The kids are CLUELESS - even tho I spend practically every free minute I have over here! As far as they know, I researching the trip for when they save their money to go to Disney. :rotfl:

I just saw the thread yesterday about making the luggage tags! I thought that was such a cute idea!! I'll check out target for the kits, because I thought people said that Wal-mart was $2.00 for 2. Didn't even think to go to Dollar Tree for stickers! Thank you!!:thumbsup2

I'm nearly busting at the seams now, but hopefully I won't spill the beans. My husbands nearly spilt them twice!:scared1:
