No new names can be added at check in?

I just tried to check in at BWV and was told by CM that they could not add my niece to our reservation at the front desk, only member services can do this now. When did this change? I was actually told by him that she could stay in be room, but, she could not be registered.... Hmmmmm, isn't that a firecode violation? I have always been able to do this at checkin, we usually have a relative come and visit with us for a few days and have always been able to add them. We don't have the dining plan, so, that is not the issue. If this is true, this is a huge inconvenience and another F for Dvc in my book!

It could be a change with the new computer system upgrades.

Interesting information. I was unaware that it had changed. Thanks for mentioning it because we had planned on having a friend come visit us this summer for a few days, so now I'll be sure to have MS add them prior to our arrival.

Either the CM was incorrect, or else it's a very recent change. When I checked in to BWV last Dec 12, I added my guests to the reservation at check-in.

I was at BCV a few years ago, and DH had already left for home, and friends came to visit from Tarpon Springs. We all wanted to swim, so I went to the desk to put their names on the reservation. What a mess ensued. To put their names on the reservation, my old reservation was cancelled, points were put into holding, and more, don't remember all. The bottom line was that from now on, if I think friends are going to visit, I put their names on the reservation before hand, usually via an e-mail to member service. That BCV situation was resolved, but at one point, I was told that I would have to move to a different studio!

YIKES! Once again, it looks like "enhancements" are NOT improvements!:sad2:

I don't see any way they could enforce this. You can't add them to the DDP but to prevent them from being registered is simply not workable. I believe you got an uninformed CM.

That's crazy. Those weren't the rules then, certainly. I routinely have different guests check in and out.

But that poster wasn't talking about recently..."I was at BCV a few years ago".

OP I'd ask a different CM. We were at WDW during some of the changeover, and even the CMs at Jambo (who didn't seem to be the brightest of the bunch, from our experiences with them) said they could add my aunt easily, if she had decided to stay over one night with us (she livesin FL without central heat, and it was going to be around 20 that night, we were worried about her).

We had a time last month trying to add our 2 DS's to the reservation for our AKV CL studio.

We found out at check in they were not listed on the reservation. When the front desk CM (arrived late and was not checked in on CL) tried listing them, the system would not allow the addition of guests, although it was just Dh and I listed and our DS's are 11 and 13.
I thought it was unique to CL (although that really should not matter) and the castmember said something about listing them as day guests so their key would have elevator access but I wanted them to have a regular KTTW so we would not have to worry about them getting to the room if they lost their key etc.

It took at least 20 minutes to issue keys and a few days later, none of our keys worked. This time I went to the CL desk and was told there was a system error on that side of the hall (I think they checked us out and tried to issue our room for check in) and we needed to be re-keyed. Again there were issues with the way my DS's were originally added at check in and the CL CM made several calls to sort it out. It took another 20 minutes to receive replacement keys and there were extra day guests listed on our reservation.

So there does seem to be issues with adding guests at check in or at the resort since the system enhancement.

We had 1 continous reservation, with 1 res # so our keys should have worked the entire los.

We were at OKW last month. They were on the new computer system.
Our daughter and her boyfriend came with us at the last minute. They were added to our reservation and given their own cards with no problem.

I was at SSR two weeks ago and my mom decided to come hang out with my son all day while I went to the Bama game. I was able to add her that day and get a room card so that she could use the amenities at SSR.

2 weeks ago I checked into BLT. My flight was delayed so my roommate who was listed checked us in and added another friend that would be spending the night with us. They gave her no problems even though she was not the member on the reservation.

I think it's miss-information. If you're booking the room and it's not over capacity, they must add that person and give your guest a room key. I book sometimes 11 months in advance and we bring friends with us but at times the players change, not the accomodations. I did it this Thankgiving and had no problem!

Are you using the dining plan? I know that has always complicated things within Disney's reservation systems. Before they began mandating that the dining plan be added or removed from a reservation 48 hours out, there were many horror stories of people literally being tied-up for hours at the front desk while they tried to modify the reservation.
