No more Stanby line for A&E?

90 minutes is really not that bad of a wait. If that's what it ends up being at most points during the day, I think that's better then the paper cards.

No paper return times today. Back to the usual 90 minute wait in the standby line.

I was really hoping that this was going to continue for my trip in August.

I was able to get a fp+ for myself, but when I tried to copy it to my dd, age 4, it gave her a different time. I haven't been able to get our times to be the same. The person I talked to at WDW said they would let me in with her since she is only 4, but everything I've read says that isn't true so I was hoping to bypass the entire fp+ system and just get a paper return time.

My FP+ opened up yesterday and no luck with A&E. I broke the news to my 6yo - she responded with "I don't care - I'd rather go on rides than see people dressed up as pretend princesses." While part of my is sad that some of the awe of meeting the characters is fading away, I'm pretty thrilled that I won't have to check MDE every 5 minutes for a spot to open or get to the park at rope drop! I am curious to see if A&E will be represented at all in MNSSHP activities.

Now my only challenge is getting a mine train time before 5:15.

Are you 30 or 60 days out? I'm not sure about 30, but if it's 60 you should have no trouble at all getting 7DMT at just about any time of the day - unless you're booking a large party all at once.

Try breaking up your group, and booking individual times that overlap. That's worth a shot (assuming you haven't tried already) even if you're 30 days out. That brings you to the end of August, which has pretty reasonable crowds ...

Are you saying open in general or they open up as days get closer past 60 days? My first day is Thurs Sept 29th so I get to do my fast passes tonight and have already been told by several people that all 7DMT is already full before 7 for that Thurs as of this morning.

This September is looking like higher than normal crowds or I have just been spending to much times on these boards :)

I guess I assumed (and probably shouldn't) that September crowds wouldn't pose much of a problem. I am surprised (if accurate) that 7DMT availability is that limited. I mean, how many guests can be booking that far ahead (i.e. 60 days out from arrival, plus staying long enough to book that day).

I just checked our last day - August 29 - and even without breaking up our group of three there are still some times left, albeit starting at 8PM. I'm sure if I broke us up earlier ones would be there. I had no issues getting us a morning time for that day when our window opened, and as late as last week was able to more a mine train time for our first day (August 24) by doing it individually. Unless there's a big event or something, I would hope you'd have the same luck.

And, yes, it is worth checking back regularly if you want to tweak times (again, much easier to do by booking individually and looking for overlaps) - people cancel, move their own times around, etc.

Hang on. I must be missing something. September 29 is more like 65 days from today. How many people could possibly have booked FP+s for that day?

My first day is Sept 25th but if people are coming in on 22nd they can book the 22nd up until the 29th 3 days before me, but I agree with you.

With Food and Wine opening on September 19th this year, the last couple of weeks of September is looking more crowded than usual.

Because if someone is leaving October 1 and arriving September 23 then their 60 days window has been open since July 23. And they get to book for their whole trip, not just the date exactly 60 days out.

That's how it favors people staying for long vacations.

May I ask a question about this that anyone can answer?

I haven't made fast passes yet....why do you have to copy a reservation to your daughter? I thought if you (I) had someone listed in my friends/family, I could make their fast pass reservations for and at the same time as I make mine. Is that not the case? Do I need to pick a time for both people? That's silly.

That's a good point too. Oh well, just happy to be going and as long as crowds are smaller than summer I'll be happy.

Because if you search for a group of 3 and there isn't on FP+ reservation time with three open slots, it will show as unavailable.
If you book one and copy, the system will offer you times that overlap but don't match exactly.

People coming on the 15th of September and staying for 14 days could also book all the way to September 29th when their arrival date was 60 days (booking 10 days before you)

How do you book one and copy? How does that work?

I had a thought this afternoon after reading that Disney had gone back to the regular standby queue at PFH...

What if this test was never a test for MK? What if it were a test for this rumored return to Epcot that A&E could be making.

Think about it:

*There's no room for a large standby queue in Norway. The return ticket solves that A1 issue for the Epcot M&G.

*The numbers in the original blog post about the test sounded oddly small for the MK M&G, but if you change the setting to Epcot, those numbers look a lot less crazy for a M&G with less capacity than PFH.

*The walls around the old M&G in Norway are still up, they could very well be installing FP+ scanners and readying a monderate standby queue back there.

I am in no way saying I have any inside info, just hypothezizing how a few of the puzzle pieces could fit together.

Thoughts?

It's certainly plausible.
But it almost seems too clever.
(I'm such a grump regarding Disney these days.)

You can make everyone's reservations the way you said, but it doesn't often work for A&E if you're staying offsite. When I made our reservations (at 30 days out) I was only able to get one fp for A&E. Since my dd was under 7 yo they wouldn't let me give it to her so I gave it to myself. Then I tried to copy her into my reservation since many people have had success with that. I tried it daily for 2 weeks without luck. Then today it let me do it and I was so excited - then I discovered it gave her a different time than mine (with a 3 hour time difference so no possibility of overlap). I didn't even think that the system would give a fp to someone who was under the age of 7 because it's not like parents are going to let their kids go into the rides/M&G alone at age 4 and it wouldn't let me assign it to her in the first place. Now I have to figure out what to do to get my reservations to overlap.

Now that you have two different times, you have two different windows you can try to match! This is a good thing. A few (or more) times per day, just go into your plans and attempt to change the times on both to overlap with the other. It may take some work, but you just might find a way to match them up eventually!
