No more River Belle Terrace breakfast :-( Who else is disappointed?

As regular Disneyland visitors, one of the highlights of our annual trips has been eating breakfast on the outdoor terrace, overlooking the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.

We have always felt the breakfast service at RBT is delicious and the best quick service in the park. We love the Steamboat and the Mark Twain, not to mention the Mickey Mouse Pancake (which I still love!) and the amazing cinnamon rolls!

I am all for the new BBQ changes in the lunch and dinner menus, but I am VERY saddened to hear that we will no longer have the opportunity to start our Disney days with breakfast at the River Belle Terrace.

Anyone else out there as disheartened as I am about this change? :-(

Yes! I am very sad to hear of this! Like you said, it is the best quick service for breakfast and we also love to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere on a nice day. Very sad!

Maybe it's temporary since the ROA will be all boarded up for a year or more? There won't be the lovely view while they are working on ROA, so maybe it's just until that is all done!

The view won't be the same but it does sound like some of your faves may still be available at least! - Over in Frontierland, Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante will begin serving breakfast on February 2, 2016. Look for a few favorites from the old River Belle Terrace menu, like the famous Mickey Mouse pancakes, as well as new favorites like Mexican-inspired breakfast entrees. Breakfast will be available until 11:30 a.m. every morning, before switching to the lunch and dinner menu at noon.

It kind of makes sense to switch the breakfast to Rancho Del Zocolo. The view isn't quite as good, but it is a much larger venue. The breakfast lines I saw on my last trip were huge. I wanted to east breakfast there, but the line was off putting. If they can accommodate more people for breakfast, that's a good thing.

We need to complain to City Hall about this, maybe it would help. Sometimes it does help if our voices are heard. StoryTellers used to serve Roast Beef with the morning buffet. I loved a big slice of their Roast Beef with my morning omelotte! It was great! We stopped going there for breakfast shortly after they took it off the buffet. I did complain but, obviously not enough other people did :mad::mad:

Pretty sad, I had my first and apparently last Mickey Pancake at River Belle on our last trip and it was a perfect breakfast in a perfect atmosphere! Oh well! At least I got the one! I hope a bit more of the menu makes it over there, I don't want black beans for breakfast!

WAHHH!!!! I will be sure to get my fill of RBT breakfasts this December! It's always been a tradition to sit and watch the ROA while having the Mark Twain and Steam Boat.... :sad2:

I am typically go-go-go in the parks in the morning, but once a trip I try to take a break after a couple of hours in the park and sit down to a nice breakfast at RBT. I do love the Mark Twain, the potatoes they serve with it are so tasty! I don't eat big breakfasts and neither does my husband, so I find that the meals there are perfect size for us to share. More than the food I appreciate the atmosphere. It's a lovely view and very relaxing to have a seat there before the crowds arrive. However, the view won't be so nice over the next year anyway, so it's no great loss during that time period.

I do wonder what will happen after ROA are open again. It almost seems to me like Disney isn't quite sure what will happen either. I think they are using this year+ of construction as an opportunity to try new things (like the PTN dining packages) and see how they work out. Once construction is over, it remains to be seen whether the changes will become permanent, or whether things will go back to how they have been previously.

Has this change already happened or is it happening once construction starts? We are there in a little over three weeks for our first trip to Disneyland and have it planned for a late breakfast on our first full day in the park. I will be super sad if I don't get Mickey Pancakes. My husband gave me 12 months of pancake tokens for Christmas last year since I love pancakes so much and I have been planning this meal ever since this trip became a reality.

You are in luck :-) The changes will not occur until February, 2016. ENJOY!

UGH.

Is Disney trying to retire? Are they trying to change things so much and for the worse so that people just stop coming? No revenue, lots of expenses from all the silly things they are putting in, they file bankruptcy and the whole thing just ends? I truly have wondered that in recent months.

On the other hand, I love that the blog has left the negative responses up. They haven't replied as far as I can tell, but they aren't whitewashing it...yet.

Interesting that you say that, bumbershoot -- I drafted a very detailed comment to post as a response to the Blog announcement, and after I hit "submit", it said, "Waiting for moderation." However, multiple comments have been published since I submitted mine, but mine is nowhere to be seen.

Hmmm.... Strange, very strange. My comments were no more "negative" than any of the others posted; in fact, I really wish I had kept a copy of them, for I detailed some of the history we have had with Disneyland and the RBT, which includes special memories.

Anyway, I completely agree with you about the changes; all of the great memories of special places I have had throughout my lifetime are (or will be soon) no longer there to be shared with my own family. None of those were "broken", so why "fix" them?

I'm thinking it has something to do with the upcoming construction. It gets way too much business in the morning not to be profitable.

Some people have speculated that this may be temporary, due to the construction (which will last a while, but hey). We can only hope!
