Has anyone noticed the rumor on Mouseplanet.com's news page today that Ringnes beer is gone? I don't drink beer, but it seems to have such a huge following, that I was surprised to read this.

I'll bet at Norway this weekend for dinner with DBf's parents/future PsIL (parents in law!), so I'll see what's up there.

DH and I were in Epoct on May 25th and tried to get the Ringnes beer. It is true...it's not there anymore. We tried the beer that has replaced it. I can't remember the exact name, it started with a "C." (Carlsburg, maybe???) If I think of it I'll post back. The replacement beer was not very good, especially for the $7.50 a cup price tag. I don't think I'll be drinking it again. We had been looking forward to trying the Ringnes and were dissapointed when it wasn't there.

Wow, they took it out fast...it was there when we were up in March. Moosehead in canada was missing at that time. The castmember said it would be back..hopefully it will be.

I hope disney isn't doing something stupid and putting in cheap beers from the countries...stick with the good stuff disney..jeesh.

yesssss (as of mem weekend)...These are the decisions that will try men's souls...

Sorry to hear this--a step in the wrong direction, certainly.
There ARE some Norway beers out there that would be accptable replacements.
Unfortunately, Carlsberg (if true) isn't one of them---.

It is true about Ringnes but the good news is Germany got rid of Becks!!!! They now have a (imported) lowenbrau and franzikanner (spelling??) hefeweizen!! Yum!!! We were very happy about that change!!

Unfortunately, I think a lot of the beers that represent their countries in World Showcase are fairly mainstream macro-breweries in order to cater to the masses. They are also the companies big enough to sign a contract with Disney.

It would be great if Disney could get in some beers that real beer drinkers from each of the countries enjoy; something with distinctive taste.

I think R&C doeas a great job :) Most of my 'pit stops' occur there. There are almost always people from the UK there, and it is an 'authentic' feel :)

It was definitely Carlsberg. That was the only beer on tap in Norway on 5/25. We did not care for it at all. The CM told us that Carlsberg bought out Ringnes.

I hear they're totally overhauling the bar section of R&C. It should be interesting how it turns out.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nonononononononono!!!!!

I am so bummed right now, it is almost beyond words.

Although it seems like a petty thing, my favorite time of my vacation, & one of my favorite times of the year is when my wife has a fiesta margarita or 2 & I have a ringnes or 3, split a couple of open-faced sandwiches with the kids & a couple of deserts from the norway bakery & people watch for a few hours. So sad.:(

Please tell me you are joking. It took me a month to get over the fact that they no longer served Viking Sized Ringnes. Now how in the world am I going to be able to deal with this. I am going home to cry myself to sleep and hopefully dream of that wonderful beer.

No more Ringnes - it's a dark day in EPCOT history. You can take away Horizons, you can ruin the Imagination pavilion, you can include Ellen in an attraction, but to remove this beer is a serious mistake. I think it's going to rain today...

Well-every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case, it's hearing Becks is gone and a heffeweizen is now available.
I think that info is correct about Ringes being bought out. Carlsberg is a Denmark Company.

Do I need to add that on several beer sites I am on, Carlsberg is often referred to as Danish Budweiser??

Guess I'd better not mention that---.

Wonder tho why they can't make a deal with Aass beer? It's a fine Norway brew. If they simply had to replace Ringnes, they ought to have at least stuck with a Norway beer---.

I just posted that I had hear that Ringnes was gone. But, to find out that it's true is more than I can handle. There is nowhere else to get that beer. Believe me I have tried! I found a store that sold it once but they stopped importing. Why!!! Oh Why!!

Ugh! No, thanks for the warning!
