No more Ribeye at Le Cellier?! what!

The filet recipe is delicious. I think it's mainly because of the truffle oil on top. It's their signature dish so I can sort of understand them pricing it that high.

But a NY strip steak that isn't prime and aged for $50? It is crazy, and you have to think that people who aren't in the know about dining credits must leave there feeling totally ripped-off and wondering why this restaurant has so many great reviews out there. Talk about a tourist trap. :sad2:

Unless I've missed some kind of spike in the truffle oil market in the last few years, it's hard for me to believe a drizzle of oil justifies a 93% increase in price.

As much as we've enjoyed LeCellier over the years, we opted out of the "how much you got?" pricing a few years ago.

Le Ceiller is the only place I will order a fillet. I find it that good!

I"m just the opposite, it is the only signature I won't order a fillet. I found it that average! But to each their own... The very reason there are so many dining choices in WDW.

As far as having to order the most expensive things to make the dining plan worth it, I don't find that at all. But I do like a good character meal, so that is where much of my cost is.

For my family situation I don't find the dining plan a worthwhile option any longer, but I do agree with you about not having to order the most expensive thing on the menu. And I also agree, for those who do character meals it can and often does make sense... Now as far as " a good character meal," that is a very, very short list. :rotfl2: (J/K)

Unfortunately, at least for me, this leads to the situation where eating at a Disney TS is just not worthwhile - it is just too overpriced compared to the quality.
As long as people are buying it (or getting it "free") it wont change - and since it is all buried in a package price people really have no idea what the true cost is in most cases (yeah people on the DIS know - but most people probably don't)

That being said it does seem like people are becoming less thrilled with it overall - and as Disney continues to add exclusions and add ons - it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. next year seems like it will be interesting.

Classic - lets not even get into the debate over truffle oil (I do love truffle fries regardless) - but most likely the truffle oil at le cellier contains no actual truffle.

Unsure of what Disney department people are calling, or what online menus are being discussed, but had my fillet on Tuesday night and the Black Angus Rib Eye Steak was right there on the menu along with the fillet and the strip steak. Waitress said she was not aware of it being taken off recently, even temporarily.

She did confirm the smoothies are gone though. And the cheese plate is still there and can still be subbed for dessert.

really?! as in 24 hours ago? That is so strange as people are reporting being there in the last week and it not being on the menu! If it truly is on the menu still along with the cheese platter, I hope they revise the menu soon as some people have cancelled due to the shortening of the menu! thanks for sharing!

I was wondering about that whole calling and being told it was gone thing. Exactly who would you call, the good old Call Center Cast Members? The same ones who don't know park hours or what rides are closed? No way could they give accurate menu info.

Yes, we ate at LC on Tuesday night, Aug. 30. My info came right from my waitress. I noticed the rib eye on the menu and asked if it had been recently put back since I had heard it was gone. She was sort of confused that this info was out there on the internet, said the menu hadn't changed in the several months she had worked there except for seasonal changes. She told me they always have the fillet, the strip, and the rib eye, though the sides and sauces do change.

As for the cheese plate, it's on both the app menu and the small dessert menu they hand you when you are ready to order that. So it's not something they sub to be accomodating, it's right there on the dessert menu. Of course these are paper printed menus, can be changed anytime.

But they can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true...

Has anyone actually been there and not seen it on the Menu or is it just the online menu that it is missing?

The menus are always subject to change so it isn't a good idea to book or not book on the basis of one dish.

Gotta love the haters on DIS!!

LeCellier is my family's biggest must do on every WDW trip. It's the first thing out of their mouths. When is the LC ADR. We have always had great service and great food. The hate on DIS towards it because of price and 2 dining credits is almost comical.

As far as Yachtsman being better? Last trip we had ADR's 3 days apart at LC and YS. We enjoyed the food more and had better service at LC. The reality is, if LC is a mediocre steak so is YS.

It's nothing to do with the DDP. The restaurants change menus. Signature restaurants change menus relatively often. Most of the time, they aren't interested in the fact that some guests may cancel over the absence of one dish. There would have to be an uproar for that to have any effect.

cheese selection may be on the dessert menu.

Is it ok to just order the soup and dessert or will I get the angry side-eye? Does the soup come with bread?

This has been asked several times recently, in several different ways.

There is no rule against it, and the servers are supposed to treat you with the same courtesy and service they treat everyone else. On the flip side many people will tip the server as if they had ordered an entree, because, after all, their wages aren't high and they depend on tips. It's also courteous to be aware of how long other guests are waiting. This applies regardless of what you order, but the promptness with which soup is typically served is an opportunity to make some other guest happy at the promptness at which they're seated. No one will rush you or time you.

If you wish to see stronger opinions and deeper discussions, look at the recent California Grill thread.

Thank you, GaryDis! Great tip on tipping like you ordered an entree. I would be fine with doing that. I wish I could just get the soup and bread to go.

One could say, "Gotta love the lovers on the DIS." You could also say the love on the DIS towards this place in spite of it's price and 2 dining credits is almost comical. It's called opinion. Some just have a different opinion than yours. Does it make it comical? No. It's not any less comical than your favorable opinion of LC than someone who doesn't care for the place.

My opinion... For you it's going to be comical. I don't think it is worth the price or if I was using 2 credits (I don't use the DDP). My experience and opinion of LC is cramped and crowded dining room, good but not great service, a rather average steak and some really good pretzel bread. I'm glad it is a must do ADR for you and your family; there are many out there like you who share that same opinion. However, there are many out there who share my opinion as well and will not even be tempted to step foot in the place. Neither is wrong, neither is comical. Again it's opinion and I'm glad we have choices instead of the alternative in an old Sylvester Stallone movie called Demolition Man.

I find it comical that they charge 48 for a very average steak-the Filet is choice(AAA Canadian)...not prime.
The menu is a very mundane compared to YS.
They rush you in and out and they pack you in like sardines...it's all about the turnover in this place..not the quality or service
There is nothing about LC that screams signature dinning or steakhouse

YS has 9 different steaks and a pretty interesting menu to say the least.

If I were on the DDP I would pick YS over LC every time, but if I'm paying OOP I'm going to Shula's in the Dolphin and getting a real quality dry aged steak.
