I've just read on another site that the Pink witches and Pumpkinmen are being ditched this year, in favour of a new concept centred around Stitch.
Anybody else heard ?
To make the park look anywhere near as fabulous as it has in previous years is going to be a huge expence, I'm intrigued - off to see if I can find any other info. :surfweb:

Could it be they're going to use Stitch in the Studios and leave the Pumpkin Men in the main park?

Also see Stitch in the Studios, but never seen over in the main park.

Only an idea!

Cheers
John

Oh please!! Why on earth would they want to change such a great original idea?!!! :confused3

I'm not a fan of the pink witches but I love the pumpkin men. Plus I dont think Stitch is very halloween. Dont mess with my favorite season!!! :)

Oh :sad2: I really hope this info is wrong. I would love to see the Pumpkin Men and Pink Witches at Halloween one year but it won't be until at least 2008. Please let us know if you find out anymore Jill :)

Don't know if he is still there but last summer Stitch had an official photo spot near Space Mountain. :stitch:

Since we have yet to see them, I think that would be a real shame:(

Hope it's not true. We've provisionally decided to visit in October 2007 and having watched the video link that was given in another thread even scaredy cat DS was hoping to see the pumpkin men. Will watch with interest.

This year the Pumpkin men and Pink Witches will still be around in frontierland, but Stitch will try to remove them from the park.

There are lots of idea's going around but, the main story is that Stitch is trying to rid the park of the pumpkin men, and this year he has half succeeded as they will not be seen on Main Street as stich has "forced them out".

This is leading up to next year for the 15th Birthday where there will be a more traditional "Disney" Halloween similar to the Tokyo Disneyland halloween season.

The Reason - Management, expecically Karl Holtz (Chairman and CEO) hate the pumpkin men, they are not marketable, not Disney and they think they look a mess in the park - in particular on Main Street.

Ware Bears - The Stitch photo-spot was removed in Spetember 2005. Buzz Lightyear offers meet and greets this year.

Stitch appears every so often at Central Plaza in the Disneyland Park, and every morning in the "Good Morning Walt Disney Studios Parade" in the Walt Disney Studios Park.

I loved the traditional Halloween feel of the park that was truely scarely and not branded trademarked rubbish. I dont know what halloween is like in Tokyo. Halloween is supposed to be scary, not cutesy which is why I disliked the Pink Witches and why I think Stich has no place in Halloween. Use some of the Disney witches instead for example.

Thanks for the info. Poppy the Monkey, I couldn't find anything anywhere else on the story. :)
I was wondering myself what relevance Stitch has with Halloween and why would Stitch take it upon himself to rid the Park of Pumpkinmen :confused3 I actually loved Halloween season including Main Street and it seems many people feel the same excluding the management, apparently.
I can understand that the park needs to develope and change is inevitable, but I can't see them being able to generate the same atmosphere that previous Halloween seasons have had. :rolleyes2
Hope they keep the Disney Villains parade, it was superb.

I know this sounds weird...but in a way I am pleased that this will be the last year with the pumpkin men (if the rumour is true). if the pumpkin men were to stay then I would have to spend every Halloween in DLRP, but I will not be rushing there to spend a Halloween with Stitch...giving me the incentive to try different places for holidays other than DLRP every time! Halloween is my favourite time to visit DLRP, and last year was fantastic...we love the pumpkin men and the pink witches theming. We are going again this year (which if the rumours are true may be our last DLRP Halloween), and will miss the pumpkin men on Main Street! (I suppose looking at it from management point of view it must take so long to set it all up!). I don't see the relevence of Stitch and Halloween at all!

I'll admit I have never got to see the Pumpkin Men "live" as such, but I won't be too upset if they go back to the old Frontierland becomes Halloweenland thing that they used to do (and don't do anything special on Main Street), because I did love that the two years we went in October.

We have only just booked for Halloween this year and I am now seriously thinking of cancelling. If they remove the pumpkinmen then they remove the Halloween feel completely. Since we only ever vist at Halloween that will be the end of our DLRP holidays, none of the other "seasons" appeal to us.

If they are going to use the Nightmare before Christmas theming then that would be brilliant....but I thought the new theming was to be based around Stitch. I have now sent DLRP an email to see if they will divulge anything!
LONG LIVE THE PUMPKIN MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm horribly disappointed that they are doing away with the pumpkin men. I thought they were fab and I never cared that much for Stitch as a character [sorry Stitch fans!]

The atmosphere in the park was terrific over Halloween and the pumpkin men were a huge draw for the crowds. What a great shame!

I liked Stitch in the original film - but I think they are overdoing him and many other characters now. Not just at DLP, but at WDW too. It's fun to see them round the parks, but I prefer to see some original ideas for new rides, and the seasons such as Halloween.

DLRP have now sent me back an email which states:

"Thank you for your e-mail regarding Disneyland Resort Paris.

At the present time we are unable to provide you information requested."

So....no surprises there! :confused3

Oh dear, very helpful :sad2:

I was looking through some brochures today, and they all have the usual Halloween info., but I suppose that little bit of smallprint "...have the right to modify/cancel parades/shows..." means they can do whatever they want .

I'd love to see some "Nightmare before Christmas" theming, now that would be imaginative, but I suppose Stitch is just far more commercial :confused3
