Just found out that starting in Jan '04, Disney Store CMs will no long get free passes for WDW. I assume it is because the stores are being sold off to, at least several rumors say, Walmart and will no longer be Disney's.

Well, ............there goes what little incentive I ever had to work for just pennies above minimum wage, at a second job in the mall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TDS cm's will still get their 4 free "passes" (one day park hoppers) but will no longer get to enter the parks free on their ID.
Another slap on the face to the hardworking and dedicated CMs.

Melissa,
From 2000 to 1-1-04, TDS cm's have always been able to enter the parks (all 4) on their ID. I was a TDS CM for most of that time. This perk was extended to us from the wdw resort, not from the disney store itself. These are not silver passes that the mgt. gets, this entry is on their regular ID. As of 1-1-04, this perk is ending.

This was originally posted on the DVC board  and the moderator CHOSE to move it to this board. And yes, for a few days, this WAS a rumor that has proven to be true. If it offends you, i suggest you bypass the thread and move on.

Melissa,
you DID have the perk, the problem was, not many store CM's read about it unless you were a member of the various CM boards. I have a friend, who at the time, worked the turnstiles at the MK and she confirmed this when the rumor started flying around about us getting in on our IDs. She said there was a note on the bulletin board in the MK breakroom near the turnstiles. No confirmation was EVER given to the stores, managers and DMs would not even confirm it. It was extended from the resorts and never officially announced. Now it's over and i no longer work for the stores anyways, but i feel bad for the ones that do.

Disney is a publicly traded company -- the perks and incentives given to its employees should be public knowledge. Heck, folks talk about Eisner's salary all the time. ;)

News is news, if it "offends" you, just grow up!!!

You're right Mr. Eisner I do need to grow up because I spend far too much time on these discussion boards arguing with people that don't really matter that much to me. I have better things to do with my time. I have deleted my posts and you won't be bothered by me again!! Thanks for your time!

This really says it all...why argue? What is wrong with "discussing" as the boards were intended to do. Sometimes people look for things to get all bent out of shape about. I understand this thread probably touched on a raw nerve but there really is no need to argue with others about it, it is not their fault what happened.

but I'm getting the impression posters think MelissathePooh is somehow offended by the subject matter of this thread. She is not. Her request to the Mod has nothing to do with the OT, she just doesn't want her name appearing on R&N board. She only replied to the thread when it was originally posted on the DVC board.

Now I'll go back to minding my own business.

i never got the feeling she was offended. i feel bad for her cause she never knew about the ID perk. I wonder how many others never knew also.

I just wanted to note that the removal of this perk was not only directed at TDS CM's, but for all other business units of the Walt Disney Company with the exception of WDW CM's. This includes Disney Direct Marketing (Disney Catalog, Disney Online) which is not being sold. Also this perk was never a benefit of being a TDS CM and was only offered for the last 3 1/2 years of TDS's 15 plus years of business. It was offered as a courtesy from WDW and CM's were told that it could end at any time. Although the timing makes it appear to be due to the sale of the stores, I don't beleive that is the case.

There were some posts removed from this thread by another poster. With those gone, it looks like comments were being directed to Melissa, but I believe they were really directed to the deleted posts.

Why would someone not want there name on this board?????
Are some too elite to be on this lowly board????
I take that as a slap at all of us on this fine board(the best one imho).

They were directed at me. I didn't realize how deleting my posts would change the context of the other posts so I apologize for the confusion. I just felt that my posts were causing some conflict and were better off gone. I didn't mean to sic the dogs on someone else!

From what I understand, only WDW CMs will be able to use their IDs to get into WDW and Disneyland into Disneyland, etc. What I wonder is, how does this work out for CMs such as College Program Capus Reps, who do not get paid and who usually take the job for the free park benefits and discounts. Since they technically don't work at any park, it seems as if this new rule excludes them from free entry, which IMHO, is very sad. If anyone knows anything about this, let me know, because I've been wondering....

I am married to a DS cast member. We received the letter about the change. It came with her 2 tickets. It does say all business units. It definitly says employs of Disneyland can not use their castmember Id either to get in WDW. It is a mistake for Disney to make this change. Castmembers will go more often with the free admission, take people with them and spend more money. My question is this: Does Eisner have to pay to get in since he does not work at WDW? His business unit is the corporate office. If the truth is known I bet He is not aware of this change.
