My SIL, who is a CM at Disney in the reservations center, was telling me that those who stay at SOG are no longer eligible for EE. Does anyone know if that, in fact, is the case???

That was NOT the case when we stayed at SOG from Sept. 15 t o 22, assuming you are referring to "Early Entry."

We went to EE a few mornings, and we did have to show our resort id, just like everyone else....there was an early bus running from the resort.

SOG offered EE during my stay 18-24 Sept. You can call SOG Guest Services at (407) 824-2437 and see if they are discontinuing EE at some point, although this would surprise me if they are.

SOG did not participate in the test program for extra magic hours in May but are still participating in the Early Entry Extra Magic Hours and have no plans to discontinue that benefit.

Whew! :scared1: That was me at the thought of no early entry for SOG! I remember that they didn't do the evening magic hour when we were there in May, but that was "no biggie" for us.

My mom will be calling SOG this week, so she can double check this, but I think it would be rather odd for them to discontinue this when they've participated in it for the past few years.

PLEASE post the answer that your mom gets when she calls. I'd love to know, for two of our days are planned on the early entry!

Sure! Hopefully she will call either today or tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

This has me worried, so I just called the SOG ticket office to ask about this and the response was that EE for SOG has the potential for "being cancelled at any time" but that she hadn't heard anything about it being cancelled any time soon. I tried to clarify and asked if it has always been the case that EE could be cancelled at anytime and she said yes. I also asked who made the final decision and was told the general manager of SOG. I asked if EE was cancelled how would they notify future guest who had reservations and she said they would send out a letter. I told her that "to be honest if EE was cancelled I would make reservations at another Disney hotel and cancel my SOG reservations." She just said "Uh, huh."

The impression I got from the conversation was that by saying that EE could be cancelled at anytime, that covers their butt if for some reason it is cancelled. Like to tell you EE is a privelege, not a right, kinda thing.

So for the time being SOG guest can still use EE, but it could always change.

If the final decision rests with the SoG GM and not Disney, that tells me $$$ is involved. SoG probably pays Disney for the right to EE and whatever other 'special' things like that that Disney does.

And honestly, the "uh-huh" about sums it up. They could care less if you go some place else. There's a waiting list to get in to the place. There will almost always (98% of the time) be some one behind you to take that room you no longer want. It's a downfall for a hotel that has one of the highest occupancy rates in the country; they don't have to care if you want to take your business else where. :)

Yes, that's true - at least for EE. The Swan/Dolphin and DD Hilton also pay Disney for the EE beneft. That's why the Hilton is the only DD Hotel that currently participates. Remember when they all did?

Best wishes -

My mom just spoke with SOG and they said that they still offer early entry. It didn't seem like they had any plans to discontinue either.

Hope this helps!
