No more DVC discount at The Disney Store

Last week there was a thread about no more 10% discount at the disney store for DVC members. A lot of people including myself went on that thread and said that it was not true. Let me tell you. It IS TRUE. It started 3/10/05 effective immediately Disney Stores are to no longer accept the 10% DVC discount. I'm sure some stores will be so used to giving that discount that they'll forget and give it to some people, but the discount is really gone. How come we did not get any notification or explaination about why this is happening. I'm sure DVC did not want to pay the children's place for the discount, but they were paying Disney for the discount before this, so how come they couldn't work out something?

I have not stressed about this one, because I honestly have not found anything at TDS that I had to have in the past 5 years. It used to be a great place, but their selection and quality of items is just not there any more.

It was on the DVC website. It does not seem like a reasonable thing to have a special mailing for. I suspect they'll include it in the next VM and Clubhouse. As a rule DVC doesn't pay for discounts, they are given to the members to try to attract business for the destinations involved.

I just used the discount yesterday at a very busy, large store.

I was at TDS at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, Ontario today -- I knew the discount had been pulled -- I whipped out my DVC card anyways. The manager happily gave me the discount. I benefitted to the grand sum of $1.25 CDN.

Methinks not everybody has read the memo.

I know it's not much, but it will make a difference in how I shop at TDS from now on. I tend to splurge because I know I'm getting a discount. I won't anymore. Sorry.

I just discovered the same thing this morning on the DVC website. I was looking at the "perks" and it does in fact say that the Disney Stores (North America) were purchased by the Children's Place and the DVC discount is no longer available. It does go on to say that if you are traveling to Europe, you still will receive the discount. I used to be a CM at the DS and all I can say is the DS has been enduring a long, slow, death.
