Not sure how long ago this recently changed, but the online system is no longer allowing ADR doublebookings. And if you need a legitimate doublebooking, you are now required to call (I'm trying to book a separate reservation for DH and I @ V&A and another for my parents/children @ Jiko).

There is no longer an option to keep both anymore.

Personally, I think this is great news. :thumbsup2

This reservation conflicts with an existing reservation. It is not possible to book two conflicting dining reservations. Select "Continue" to cancel the original reservation and continue to book your new choice. To keep your original reservation and abandon the new, conflicting reservation, select the "close X" in the upper right-hand corner. If you believe that your travel plans require both reservations, call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) WDW-7933 (939-7933) for assistance.

There's mixed reports on this - what actually triggers that notice. Some people have seen it, some have not, even when entering two reservations relatively close together. It's not entirely clear on what the threshold may be.

Thanks, Vicki. Prior to posting I tried to pull up information on this topic via search and couldn't find anything. Figures the notice would happened to me...someone who's normally not one to doublebook.

are for the resrvations. If you do a lunch and dinner there's no problem. I think I did one with a 3 hour gap in between meals and I was okay with it.

I can see this not being possible say within an hour of the same time for two reservations under the same name.

Another way of probably making this work anyway would be to put the reservations under two, different names. You don't even have to be booked with a resort to do a meal reservation.

'Bout to get flames, but how 'bout don't double book? Really simple solution. I know it stinks but think about how you would feel to make a reservation at a restaurant for your once-in-a lifetime trip and you can't because someone has double booked 2 restaurants because they can't decide or it doesn't fit into their touring plans right then?

I'm not trying to be mean, but before anyone flames me, is it really okay to do something just because everyone else does? I know a lot of people cancel in few days, but their are many who don't that will hold those ADRs until they arrive to make sure they are going to get something in case their plans change.

Just sayin'...sorry that it is going to offend a lot of people. I think WDW has just heard so many complaints, as well as reading the countless forums, to see that people do this and they are trying to prevent it, much like the RFIDs and the FP discussions.

But to each his own...enjoy your trip nonetheless.

it's a legimate booking for two parties that are splitting up for a meal within the same family.

No one is trying to save two reservations and then going only to one.

I had the same problem as the OP did for our upcoming January trip. My DH, I, and kids all want to eat at Teppan Edo and since my ILs are going to be with us, and don't care for Japanese food, I decided to make them an ADR for 9 Dragons (they LOVE Chinese food go figure). I was unable to book both of these ADRs at the same time due to the times being an hour off, and like the PP suggested I was going to put it under my FILs name but of course he has the same last name as we do, so that didn't work either. Instead I called and was able to book both restaurants with no problems. I did, however, still put the 9 Dragons' ADR under FILs first name rather than mine.

And that is probably why they want call-ins now. It's a legitimate concern, so you have no problem calling in to make that request. I think that the corporate wheel at WDW is concerned that with prices going up- on everything from tickets to food to room rates- they must make sure they do things in a different direction to make sure the complaints (or the potential complaints) are held to a minimum.

So many people have complained about ADRs and DPs that it is probably finally come to a boil. They have spent a lot of money in the past few years on R&D to make sure that all guests can be satisfied to a point. From what you stated, calling in isn't an issue for you. It was successful. I think it is the people that have done it to circumvent the system is why it is probably starting to be implemented.

I too got the notice, but mine was simply an accident. I typed in the 28th instead of the 27th as I already had a reservation for the 28th. It was a legitimate mistake on my part as well. But, I gotta say, even though I was at my computer at home, I looked around and felt rather "ashamed" of myself...in the privacy of my own home. Kinda funny, actually.

OP here. If go back and read my first post you will see that this is not what I was attempting to do.

We have 2-3 separate parties and all of the ADRs are booked together, with the exception of V&A. I attempted to put it under my husbands name, but the website kept taking me to login and was being glitchy. However, it allowed my name/login to proceed, but not without cancelling the Jiko. No prob, I will just call to rebook, just the way it ask me to, "If you believe that your travel plans require both reservations, call the Disney Reservation Center."

Anyways, my point was; I thought it was interesting that the notice came up and felt it was a good thing. :)

I agree with you waynesgirl - I think that people should not be able to book more than 3 reservations in a day and they have to be at least 4 hours apart. And I think if people had to hold reservations on a credit card it would help decrease some of the booking or at least help increase cancellations (as opposed to no shows).

Right now the system blocks some of the double booking but not all. You can book two reservations close to each other and it won't block you or you can just set up multiple email accounts and use different cell phone numbers and hold reservations.

I will admit that I am holding 2 reservations now and I will eventually cancel one of them (one is a lunch ADR and one is dinner). I want a specific ADR earlier in the week and if I don't get it I'll keep the dinner reservation but if I am lucky enough to get it then I'll keep the lunch reservation. I'm going at the end of September, which I understand is a "slow" time of the year so it seems silly that so many reservations are booked up and they can change every hour.

While I admit that I am guilty of holding an extra reservation right now I always cancel my other reservations if I make new ones and will cancel one of these immediately after getting the one I'm waiting for (which probably wouldn't be a problem if people didn't double book)....

I received this notice too a few weeks ago when I was actually trying to change the time of my ressies online. It worked out good for me because it gave me the option of replacing my new time and canceling the old one, so I didn't have to go cancel, then search and add my new one. I was very pleased!! :thumbsup2

That's a good point! It does make it easier to control your ressies!
