I heard from a CM that Disney is going to try and be more family oriented and they will not be doing any more Gay Days. :scared1:Also, the House of Blues was told by Disney that they want them to close at midnight and not 2:00 am and they refused and will not be renewing their lease. Disney said they are going to start closing all the DTD places at midnight to keep it more family oriented.
It's bad enough that they totally screwed up Pleasure Island when they started opening it up to families and now this. Anyone else heard anything about this?:confused3:

It would be a little weird shutting down early since I remember they were talking about trying to capture more of an adult audience with a theme park near downtown disney that would only be open nights.

Disney doesn't "do" gay days, so there is nothing for them to stop.

The only way they could stop gay days is to refuse to allow gays (with all of their disposable income) into the park that day, and that just aint gonna happen!

Now pass the popcorn Rob!

sounds like one of hundreds of rumors that "leak" out all the time.

Why would WDW not want the serious money that they get from events like Gay days, or any other reason to get people into their parks for that matter?

The fact that Disney is running it's own "Lets Celebrate" party to try and attract adults BACK to DD is contrary to that. Many Disney execs are also on record as saying they appreciate the business that Gaydays brings to the area.

I seriously doubt thats going to happen. One i'm sure a discrimination lawsuit would be brought . Which is not worth the money or bad press. Two in this economy Disney doesn't care who you are just keep the almighty dollar flowing. Thats why they never bowed to the churches complaints over the years.

As a previous poster mentioned. Gay Days is not a Disney operated event, all Disney is providing is the park, otherwise, promotion companies do all the rest in terms of external entertainment (including those hosted on Disney property). Disney doesn't offer special admission, hours, etc for Gay Days, and if they did, it would be paid for by a promotion company, not by Disney.

In regards to Downtown Disney, who knows what they're going to do there, it's such a trainwreck right now...

There is no telling what rediculous policies they will implement at DTD. I had heard the midnight thing, but thus far it has not materialized. SIN night at HOB on Sundays is always packed and HOB will fight to keep that night going.

Celebration Plaza is a disaster....no two bits about it. Unfortunately, until they fire Lansberry and get some sense in their heads, DTD will continue to fall apart. The princess Dianna thing is laughable and Starabillas is closing. Don't believe me? Check out what ISNT on the latest maps they have put up in DTD....

Another empty building, another eventless day at DTD. All part of the "bold new vision"

Who ever bought the overpriced crap at Starabillas anyway. Seriously, I never understood how that placed stayed open in the first place.

That said, DTD is becoming a joke.

I bought some of their Superman merchandise. Nothing particularly high-dollar, but I did purchase some things there.

Was that the first store on the left as you entered the West Side from PI?

West Side was *always* a joke. We never went over there. Never really needed the crappy t-shirts and magnets.

Yep, O'Mike that's the place. A neat place to poke around in. Never did buy anything from there though.

DTD went askew back long before PI was destroyed. Back when it was just the Village and had VIABLE options for Disney visitors...

PI used to be a place full of night life and for an adult crowd. Remember when it used to be open until 4:00 am! Disney was asked by local LE to change the bar closing hours to 2:00 am to stop the race track rush from downtown Orlando to PI. That was years ago though...

It is a pretty big waste of landspace. Poorly thought out, with redundant choices for food, and shopping...

used to be a great place to take folks for a "shot of Disney" but no longer. We pretty much avoid the place anymore.

The West Side is fast becoming a ghost town. :confused3

PI? Well, enough said on that and by folks who have far more invested in the destruction of that area than I. :guilty:

So who is responsible for these stupid ideas that don't work? As a stockholder I don't see my stock going anywhere. Makes me wonder if voting Eisner out was a mistake?:confused3

Unfortunately for the last several years the stock market for all companies hasn't responded to the actual earnings performance and potential of a company, but to rumors and innuendos. Honestly, look at the price of gas and oil last year, when even the Saudi's said there is no reason for it to be that high, that there was plenty of supply to meet demand. Online trading and the internet rumors are mostly to blame. All someone has to do is blog "Don't buy XYZ because a friend of a friend said it won't do well," and the stock tanks. Or the opposite happens, rumors of high demand and a shortage sends prices soaring.

Its the herd mentality by amatuer investors too...they see the market tanking, and immediately pull their money out too.

On paper I'm down about 45% - 50% from March 2008, but its on paper, I haven't actually lost anything until I sell my investments. People who act in herd are usually not the ones to savior profits, rather they are locking their losses in forever after the market has already dropped.
