I don't know if this was already posted or not but if it was I missed it. My FIL went to the Disney Store today to get my kids some Disney Dollars for Halloween and they told them they no longer carry them as of Oct. 3. I believe the stores are selling through what they have & then after they are gone they will only be available online or in the Disney Parks...I feel like this is a real bummer! The kids love to get the Disney Dollars as incentives before the trip & I don't know how convenient it will be to have to order them online much easier to take a trip to the mall & pick some up!

It's kind of sad to see them go but I get the feeling that Disney wants to phase them out. I'm afraid that it will open up a "black market" in Disney Dollars on eBay. They are kind of a collector's item and I know that some people pay more than face value for them because they are discontinued versions. :sad2:

As a substitute, maybe you can make your own "Disney Money" to give the kids and then let them exchange it for real money or merchandise when your vacation comes? If you're good with a graphics program it wouldn't be too difficult to do.

When we went to get Disney Dollars most recently, which was the weekend before last, they told us that they were getting rid of them and only using disney gift cards because they were "going green." It makes sense, and the nice thing about gift cards is that they are a little safer than DD if you lose them, so long as you hang on to your receipt.
