Wow!! Since covid more and more people work remotely. My husband was planning on working while we are away. We are in a lovely 1 bedroom at bwv, but alas, no desk. Upon further checking renovated ssr rooms are also lacking. Please if you work remote, please let it be known you need the desk. I fear this is the way for the new renovations which i think was based on data pre covid when the desks were barely used.

We almost always stay in a 1 bedroom at BWV. I don't recall there ever being a desk in those units.

They have those footstool cubes where the top lifts up to essentially create a desk (or a table), but you are sitting on the murphy bed couch and not a desk chair with those. Still, I find them handy.

I just use the table that is always present in one bedrooms and above. The real problem these days is in studios. Most of the refurbed ones don't have any table at all any more, if they ever did. At the most you get that coffee table thing with the lid that lifts up sort of like a table.

The kids use the table so the table is off not a good work area. We always stay in one or two bed units and all have always had desks in the master bedroom (two bedroom) or bedroom (one bedroom). I thought bwv always had a desk too, but I guess I am wrong. When i didba quick search the only thing i could find was someone asking about ssr and that the desks were removed during their renovation. I assumed all resorts had the desks in the one and two bedroom units. I wonder why bwv never had them. I read about the lack of tables in the studios too. That seems very short sited.

When I stayed at BWV 1-bedroom, pre-renovation, there wasn't a desk there (in the master bedroom). There were the two nightstands and the TV with dresser under the TV, but no desk.

I'm trying to remember if there was a desk in the living room, but don't remember there being one at all either. We moved the plush "coffee table" away from the sofa bed and left the sofa bed open all the time for the third member of our party.

No desks have ever been in Boardwalk that I can recall - I've owned there since 1996. I do remember some 1-bedrooms in other resorts had desks, but they've been disappearing in renovations even before the most recent round.

For me, it's never been an issue as I've always used the kitchen table in 1-bedrooms to work from - and if that needed to be occupied, I'd use the stand-up coffee table top and the couch - or borrow one of the chairs from the table if I didn't want to sit on the soft couch.

I do light work when I'm at Disney, so I could see it being a problem if you're seriously 'working' as in 8+ hours, full duties, phone and computer and zoom calls, etc. I mostly spend a few hours on weekdays logging into my work computer, checking and responding to e-mails, maybe a few calls if a client asked a question, or asking co-workers to handle something for me. I rarely work longer than 9am-12pm, and maybe an e-mail check again at night when I get back from the parks.

Have your husband check out the Belle Vue Lounge - mid day is usually empty there. He might also try the seating area next to the coffee shop in the lobby, although that area might be noisier than he prefers.

I have stopped by the BoardWalk Community Hall a few times, and there has never been anyone in there other than the cast member, so it's been quiet. But I can't remember if there are any tables in there. I think they have crafts, so I think they would have tables, but I just can't remember.

Yeah, I disagree with the decision. Really dislike when they remove such items during refurbs. As you say, there's more and more remote work and they pull the desk. Of course there's places one can make work but I've always used the desk in the past.

Kathy,

Where in the 1BR were the desks? I've been trying to remember and can't see one in my mind, but that means nothing.

There may have been a desk in some of the resorts, but a few of us long time owners (since the mid-90's) do not recall the BWV ever having one.

I suspect Kathy was agreeing that the resorts that had them should have kept them. FWIW, I do not see any place in a BWV 1 bedroom to put one.

None in BRV 1BR's, before of after renovation. I did watch a room tour recently of a 2BR at Kidani and it did have a small desk, the person said they hope it remains after the renovation (whenever that is supposed to happen).

As a BWV member since shortly after it opened in the1990's, I can confirm that its 1BR has never had a desk. As an AKV owner since it opened in 2007, I can confirm that its 1BR has always had a desk in the bedroom, both Jambo and Kidani. It will not be refurbed until next year and I assume it will still have a desk.

OKW has never had desks in one bedroom units. I just use the dining table, or if the weather is comfortable, the patio/balcony table.

I was surprised to find a desk in the bedroom of the Kidani 1 bedrooms. So there are some resorts with them. It was nice, and I used it. But by the same token, Kidani is missing the outdoor balcony table.

Young people do everything from their bed no longer a need for a desk.
Alas I am not young but any table does it for me.
I also do not recall desks in any DVC resort but many years back (we own DVC for 21 years) they did have them in the regular rooms at the Poly and CR that I can vividly recall always had a pen and some free postcards to mail to people stamps (no markup) in the gift shop and a mailbox in the resort lobby.
So yeah a bed will not work out for me for working..............

BLT and VGF have desks in the 1/2 bedrooms, but I've never seen one in BWV or Kidani.

As I mentioned before, the 1BRs at both Jambo and Kidani (and, and as a result all lock-off 2BRs, but also the dedicated 2BR in Kidani, and even the value 1BRs) have always had a desk in the master bedroom.
