The Contemporary has been our home away from home now for about 20 years. I keep reading about DVC and people trying to get in for December 2006 and NOTHING is available!

I also had a pretty hard time getting in for December of this year.

Will we no longer be able to stay at our beloved Contemporary once DVC takes over? What does that mean to a non-DVC'er?

The_Insider, can you help me? :-(

The DVC thing is a rumor. There has been no official word from Disney. At this point, you have nothing to worry about. It's all talk.
I'm not saying it won't happen in the future, but nothing right now
So go to the CR and have fun

Dec. 2006 is such a long way off. I'm sure they will release some of the rooms later. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the North Wing becomes DVC, but wouldn't they wait until Saratoga Springs is all sold before they start selling CR units, especially since they haven't been built. Even if the DVC rumor proves true, they would have to demolish the North Wing and rebuild. That still leaves a lot of non-DVC rooms in the Tower and the South Wing. Isn't there a lot of empty space surrounding the Contemporary? They might add to the resort and keep the North Wing non-DVC.

We had no problem booking 2 rooms at CR tower for this December, 12/25-1/1. We just called about 2 weeks ago for this. We ended up switching to the Poly cause we got the AP rate there, and it was half the price of CR so we switched.

Even if the DVC rumor were to come to fruition, it certainly will not take over the entire resort. It would just be one small part of the resort. If it were to take over the North Wing it would remove those rooms from inventory, but it would not affect the South Wing or theTower rooms. Right now it is just a rumor, so the DVC did not make it difficult for you to get a room.
If the CR is already sold out for Christmas 2006, keep trying I'm sure between now and then others will change their minds, switch reorts, cancel their plans.

I just went on the Disney website and put in a few dates for Dec of next year and everything seem available, tower, wings, concierge.
So I think that your fears may be unfounded.

I am friends with someone who is in charge of this. He/she will not talk about it at work. We are going to have drinks one night, and they will tell me then. I will send you a PM when I know.

Why would you care if DVC takes the north wing? The best rooms are in the tower anyway, so how do you lose here?
