No more character dinner at LTT

Thanks.... just found this thread.
I just read a couple days ago that LTT will be without characters :sad1:
It was our favorite all around.... for the price and location.... it was perfect for us on EMH nights, etc.
So.... now what???????
I have 3 grandsons.... they will not go for the princess thing at Epcot.... and they aren't into Jo Jo's circus at DHS??!!! that show isn't even on any more!
The princesses at the castle..... well, maybe because they have princes.
So that leaves only Ohanas....... and Chef Mickeys (which is always a nightmare..... so crowded and LOUD!!! )

this makes us so sad!!!!
I hate waiting in line, in the hot sun.... just to get a picture! the meals are always very relaxing and fun!

Come on ..... we need character dinners!!!

LTT was our favorite place on EMH as well. We'd hit CP at 8a for b-fast, tour MK until 2ish. Back to resort for swimming. Head back to MK at 6, ADR's at LTT around 8ish....as soon as we finish dinner, the parade is coming around the LTT so we'd watch it on the porch. Then hang around till 2a. (I love summer EMH's)

We are going to miss LTT and won't be going back without the "friends" being there. Too bad

My Family loved to dine here and was extremley disappointed to hear of the characters leaving from a CM from our trip last Aug. She advised us to call MK guest relations or stop by and tell them how disappointed we were and that we would not go back to LTT without Characters. If enough people state they want the characters back, then they could change again and bring them back. So everytime you are there..go and tell them. We even called the manager to our table when we were at LTT. Poor guy though he was only there a few days.:cool1: :dance3: :grouphug:

DH just gave me some hope - He thinks they might have the characters at LTT during MNSSHP since they have the costumes for it? Hmmmm....

I don't know that LTT was the "logical" choice ? HOw are we guaging that CP is more popular ? Mickey is much more appealing to the masses.

Mickey isn't at Liberty Tree. even the Disney World website says "Minnie and her friends." Her friends are apparently Goofy, Pluto and Chip & Dale.

I don't think it's the character meals that have made dining a nightmare at the MK, I think it's the DDP. Because the DDP has made it near impossible to get ADR's at alot of places, especially a month or less ahead of time. And it never used to be like this prior to DDP. [/B]

Whether it's the DDP that caused it or not, if they need to turn tables over faster at MK they're going to take some action.

WDW's current management is far more interested in the families with young children than they are in the families with teens or the adults. I can't see them sending Pooh or the princesses packing. Of course there's a rumor on the rumors board that Pooh is out too - although that is just a rumor and nothing has been officially announced about that one.

Your right...We have been to LTT for dinner five times and Mickey was NEVER there...We loved the characters and the interaction but our experience never included Mickey ;)

To Nala and Danielle......
Yes...correct....it's the whole Mickey and Gang that our family favors. The "Fab 5" (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto). For some reason, Pooh seems more "babyish" to my teens.........and the Princesses---forget it. Couldn't get my teens (and even my son when he was younger) near them with a 10 ft pole. So we were VERY happy with Goofy, Minnie, PLuto etc......

He was never one of the characters. The characters scheduled there were Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

Too bad Mickey was not one of the scheduled characters. I wonder what he would have looked like in a colonial outfit.

He would have looked awesome in a George Washington wig and the ears.

Mia, sorry about your teens. It's tough when Disney starts deciding your age group isn't so much worth their business. They started that with mine this year too. But they have their reasons, all of which are about maximizing profit.

You may have to work on finding a Mickey or Fab Five breakfast that you like, unless you want Chef Mickey's.

You're right Nala. But, disney isn't always right either.......time will tell. For now, Chef Mickey's it is.

I just found out the lunch at the Garden Grill has been eliminated. Guess business wasn't great there either. This restaurant has gone through alot of changes.

I was really disapointed to here this. LTT was definitely on my list for September but I wont be going now. I have small children and part of the Disney experience for them is dining with the characters. We can eat in normal restaurants here all the time. Its not possible to get this experience here.

Just read in a Jim Hill article that reservations at LTT have dropped off by 30% and disney *may* consider bringing the characters back. I knew it wouldn't work without the characters because quite frankly, the food isn't worth the price they charge without having the character entertainment.

I know we'll never eat there for dinner again unless Goofy and all return.....some disney managers are maintaining the economy is what is causing the drop in LTT reservations. Guess time will tell. I think it's probably a bit of both really........

That is interesting. I would've eaten dinner here during my January trip HAD the menu changed or the price dropped. No way was I paying for no characters and the same food. I was hoping for a menu selection like the lunch menu. I had looked forward to having one more place to eat dinner at MK w/o characters.

Jim Hill does not have the best reputation for accuracy.

Although that would make sense. I wouldn't go to LTT dinner characters or no characters, but I'd imagine for most the characters made all the difference.

We personally have never eaten dinner here - only lunch. Even with character's - the meal just wasn't a draw for us. My kids and husband do like the thanksgiving meal at lunch, and the price is decent for lunch.

LTT was going to be on our list for September. But its not now. Its one we were looking forward too and wishing we had done last trip. But without the characters - we are not interested.
