No mention of POTC during D23?

I believe there was a dedicated Pirates session. But I don't know what was discussed

My train of thought is that Splash is closed early this year so that POTC can be refurbed after Splash is done. It would be nice to know if that were true, though.

There was a panel session celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pirates (including Marty Sklar and Michael Singer). And the change was discussed.

The ride will be changed, regardless of any fan disappointment.

Micechat has an lengthy article on the Pirates panel discussion that includes a video clip of Marty Sklar's rationale for the change. The initial mention of the planned change was met with some boos, but after he responded, the audience was more understanding of it.

I assume the change will be made quickly and won't require much downtime at all. I saw a video of the change already made at Euro Disney

Darn I was hoping there would be mention of when the change would be, how long it would be closed for.... hoping it's fast and doesnt require a long shut down. At least not early Jan. Lol

They don't make that detailed of announcements at D23. They just talk about changes or what is happening or the whys but not when and where.

The change was for Disneyland Paris. It has never been mentioned for the states. It may happen or it might not, but, so far the only discussion has been from fan boards and just speculation from people that don't have a clue what is going on. No insiders or Disney themselves have ventured into announcing any change to PoTC at this point. They are just guessing that because it happened in France it will happen here. I don't think it will.

No, Disney announced it was happening at both US parks, too. In the Disney Parks Blog post detailing the changes to the DLP version, they have the following to say about the US parks:

"You’ll even discover that a familiar character is playing a new role joining the pirates ranks and helping the local townspeople “unload” their valuables at the Mercado auction. In the U.S., this famous redhead will appear in a similar scene at the Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park in 2018 following a previously scheduled refurbishment. Click here to view an artist’s rendering of the new Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort scenes."

And, here's a picture of the scene for WDW/DL:

Nope, this is incorrect. It's coming to all the parks! http://www.ocregister.com/2017/06/2...of-the-caribbean-to-no-longer-auction-brides/

Not only was it announced for both US parks Marty Sklar and Tony Baxter were booed for discussing it at an imagineering panel.

Yeah, you should probably be more careful sounding so sure of something when you didn't double check before posting. It was announced 2 weeks ago as coming to WDW and DL in 2018.

Gosh, I'll have myself flogged or sold at an auction. I only read about it happening in France. I have not seen one word, in print about it happening someplace else. That doesn't mean that I am right, it means that it is all that I have heard. I don't care enough to "research" theme park crap. I follow it on the boards to a certain extent, but, after that I have a life and really don't care if they drown the red haired hussy in the mayors well. As usual when something like this happens in a theme park dark ride I will get over it. Hate to see it happen, but, there are a lot of super sensitive people that cannot have even a small part of their life altered and another part that get offended at the slightest thing regardless of the original intent. Their perception is the only one that matters. So, life will go on.
