Just to make one thing clear here. In my province , Quebec, what the CLSC provides is an extra help: for new mother , they migh come to see if the child as all he/she need , provide guidance to some care to women who dont know hoe to care for childreen , or in some poor erea of the city , see that all the need of the childreen are meet. With elderly people , the will come to the house to administer medication the person need to take , or help with meals etc. Obviously , if you are well of , there is no need for this type of help. heck , I am not well off , and I dont need it, but if I cannot pay for psychological help , they can provide it.
My best friends right now have there 1 1/2 year old in the hospital for leucemia treatment. They can count on the CLSC to provide info or,, once they are back home with their child after the 2 months in the hospital , to send someone when the family cannot take it anymore , to provide basic care for the childreen or the parents.
CLSC will not sent housekeeping to your house to clean it for you , but they might be in a position to help out an elderly person who live alone in dire condition , to get out of this conditon , or find the volontere organisation that will help out this person.
But again , thay are not baby sitters , or housiter who come in when the parents decide that a nice evening at the Olive garden would be nice..
