No magical express for room only offer?!?

So, I have an AP. I booked a trip in August before the rates came out at a mod. There was no availability with just the regular room only offer. Then the AP discount came out, still no availability. So, I keep looking. Today, I found a split stay at a Deluxe. Go to change ressie, it says I can't with out calling. I'm like nevermind, I'll just book a new package. I go to book the new package and it says I can't get magical express without having tickets added to my room - mind you, this month, I booked a room only discount with magical express. What the heck? Anyone else having this issue? I might as well go Swan and Dolphin if they're not going to give me Magical Express. Why would you expect AP holders to buy tickets and tell them they can't have ME unless they do? Makes no sense.

If I put it as general magical holiday room only offer, it allows me to add ground transportation. It's only the AP room only offer. I don't get it.

In your title you say room only, and in your paragraph you mention booking a package. Which are you doing? They recently did some "upgrades" or changes that messed some stuff up. By recently, I mean between Aug 23 & Aug 25, so it may be related to that. But I agree with above posters, Magical Express should continue to be included for room only.
 
That can't be right. I did room only and have my magical express tags ready to use this weekend.

There are two room only discounts out, one is general open to the public and one if for AP holders. The AP holder discount is slightly better. When I go to book it as a AP room only discount, it tells me I must add tickets to add ground transportation. I put it back to the general open room only discount, it allows me to add ground with no tickets. I do have a general room only discount right now with ground, but I wanted to upgrade resorts and I would have to do it as a split stay. I was hoping to just use that ressie for one of my split stays, but it won't allow me to change the dates with out calling. I'm just frustrated b/c I really don't want to call but I really don't want to loose these hard to find rooms either.
 
I believe the ground transportation it is referring to is purchasing your airfare through Disney. We used magic express on three room-only trips last year.

Just book your trip as normal and then contact Magical Express later, once you have your airline tickets. You can do it online yourself, you don't have to do it when your book you room. We never make ME reservations at the same time as we book the resort. We do it sometime closer to our trip dates. :)

Well, I tried 3 different browsers and my phone! I "chatted" with the Disney person and told her, she was like, "No one else is complaining of that. You're not doing it right" Um, no, I'm an AP holder and I've booked tons of vacations online several times a year for several years. Finally, it updated itself. Kicked the package out of my cart. I went to add it - again - and this time it came up with the ground magical express option and let me put in my flight information. Yeah! So, do you think I'm all set? Nope! Now it keeps kicked me out during check-out! LOL I'm losing my mind. I can now get the magical express, I just can't finalize the deal on any internet browser or my phone. lol I just can't. Love that Disney technology.

:sad2: :mad: I know. It is completely maddening, isn't it?! I am having trouble trying to book AP discount too. I was able to do so on Aug 21 & Aug 22, but now wanted to add another day or too. It keeps kicking me out. And like you, when I called, the person I spoke with said she didn't know of any reports of this problem. :headache:
 
Ok, so I did get my AP holder rate with the magical express added and it finally went through! As this was now a split stay, I go to do the next ressie, same thing! Won't let me add magical express. The heck with it now! I'll just go on the link for magical express and add it. I don't want to lose the room. So, thanks for letting me rant and rave during my frustrating reservation change!
 
it must be some kind of a glitch with the website because ALL resort guests are entitled to use ME. Call the 800 number for ME and they will book you as long as you have your room confirmation number.
 
I have AP room-only and have Magical Express--actually changed my reservations multiple times and changed my ME reservations accordingly. Then I changed my flight and called and changed ME yet again--no problem--just got my tag. If you're staying on property, you should always get ME.
 
For some reason the website is extremely touchy with Chrome. I've been having to use an incognito window to get the darn site to work correctly (clearing cookies does nothing).
 
I am sure it was just a glitch but at the time since I had tried it on 3 browsers and my phone, I was worried it was some new thing. Who knows about new things? The DIS boards! So, I had to ask! All set now, though. Thanks!
 
I almost exclusively book room-only and have always used DME. The only time we haven't been able to is with a stay at Swan/Dolphin because they are not run by Disney.
