No Magic Morning on Sunday Oct 5

News broke Friday Morning that Disneyland will be hosting a Major Press Event on Sunday October 5th. While the "Spin" on the event is that it is Miley Cyrus's 16th Birthday Celebration, in reality, it is the Disney Parks and Resorts first major event to unveil the new 2009 Marketing Campaign.

The Parks operating hours have changed, with Disneyland Park now open at 6:30 AM, and the park turnstiles closing at 5 PM. Disney's California Adventure will be open from 10 AM to 11 PM, to allow guests a place to go when Disneyland shuts down.

While the article did not say explicitly that there will not be MM, in the past when DL holds special events with an opening of 6:30AM they skip MM that day. This happened for example for the POTC 2 and 3 movie premieres.

Maybe by the time we're there we should just park ourselves in front of the turnstiles at 5am and wait it out...
Right now, I'm hoping they won't decide to close the park altogether to prepare for the event.

Keep your eyes open on this one. In some cases they just cancel the MM and in others they move it. It would not surprise me if they move this to Monday Oct 6.

MM is just early entry, right? And you can only get that with 3 or 5 day hopper tickets?

Do you think they would have early entry on Monday AND Tuesday then?! Or would they cancel tuesdays?!

Magic Mornings is the new name for EE, yes. You get MM with most 3 day or more hoppers (4, 5, 6, etc). You also get it as a guest of Disneyland Resort hotels, even if you don't have a 3+ day hopper (1 day, 2 day, AP).

All these changes are making me very nervous about our trip. My husband and I fly in from the east coast on Oct. 3 and our plans were to visit the parks on the 4th and 5th and leave on Monday, the 6th. We visit every year on this weekend and we used to worry about the Gay Days crowds and last year (I think) they also had the Choc Walk that weekend. We worried for nothing though because we were able to go on everything we wanted because we arrived at opening and used our Fastpasses later in the day. I'm not sure about the crowds this time, but I think they may be worse. At 5:00 on Sunday, when they clear DL and everyone tries to get into CA, is there a chance we won't get in because they're at capacity? Also, I'm thinking that the hotels will be totally full and the restaurants will probably have really long lines. I'm really having second thoughts about this trip.

My schedule is the same as yours but DH will only be joining me on the 5th and we're leaving on the 6th.
So I completely am with you on the concerns. If there is any way for us to change our dates I would do so in a heartbeat. But since we're all knee deep in non refundable flight tix we're going to just hope for the best.

Maybe we'll bump into each other!
Here's to hoping that the parks will be not unmanageable!

6:30 is pretty early. If you are there when the gates open, I bet it will feel like MM except more rides will be open. I don't think many people are going to be there that early.
