Our flight was cancelled today due to really bad weather, from Edinburgh, we were about 15 min from boarding when they shut the airport (had been shut for hours earlier, and Sunday).

With a heavy heart made the decision to cancel as they think airport will be sut again tomorrow.

My disapointed 3 year old has been given an early Christmas present of toy story 3 to soften the blow..

feeling very fed up.......:sad1::sad1::sad1:

((((wmoon))))

I hope Toy Story 3 did soften the blow, and that it is not too much hassle getting refunds. This has not been a good year to travel in!

I was thinking about you today:hug: You must be devastated. I'm really worried about our flights on Friday.

Thanks everybody

At least we have a trip booked in March to look forward to but its a shame to miss all the Christmas stuff, we were so looking forward to it.

Fiona, have to say as scathing as I was edinburgh airport did seem to be doing their best, it did look bad. They will keep trying and I would hope by Friday things are better. Couldn't believe though that we got all the way through check in and security and to the gate for it to be cancelled half an hour before take off.

so sorry for you :grouphug: I remember last January waiting with heart in mouth to see if we would board - we were lucky - but know just what was going through your head! Thank goodness you have your March trip to look forward to!

Awww Wendy  so sorry for you :sad2:

So frustrating when it's one of those things you can't control...

Roll on March!

oh no thats terrible. so sorry that happened to you

Its horrible that you got so far through the airport, by that time you'd think you'd be home and dry. I've been checking the airport website thorughout the day and after it opened again at 2pm I thought you'd be ok.

Snuggle up and watch toy story. March will come round really quickly.

Awe no :sad2: I am sorry. I was just saying to DH that I hope it has cleared for us in 2 weeks..

You must be so disappointed but sending hugs :lovestruc and hope you make up for it in March

Sorry to hear that, I'd be gutted getting that close then being turned back so I know how you must feel, especially your 3 yo. The snow has been very bad this year, worse than last year and we're not into December yet :-(. The snow has been pretty relentless and its cold as well with no sign of it going anytime soon. It's supposed to get colder by Thursday as well which isn't good news for others like Fifi Rose but hopefully the snow will subside and once the airport is cleared it will stay that way. It's actually sunny just now but with some menacing clouds floating over.

We're on the outskirts of Edinburgh not far from the bypass and the snow is a foot or so deep in our street, 3-5" a night falling. My kids watched a film on Disney Cinemagic yesterday as school is closed so I signed up on a special offer from Sky for the movies over Christmas. After the film finished yesterday, the picture started breaking up and eventually "no signal being received". We had to get the garden hose out and skoosh water at the dish to clear some snow - first time we've ever had to do that. We couldn't even watch recorded movies on the box as it needs the signal from Sky to check your subscription. It worked fortunately after about 5 minutes.

Hope the weatehr clears up soon and march won't be that far away.

The weather has played havoc with peoples travel plans and simple things like getting the kids to school.

Sorry that your plans were thwarted at the last minute :grouphug:

so sorry you missed your trip, this is on my mind too for our trip, dont think i will get excited about it until i am on the plane

Thanks again.

Starting to feel a bit guilty I didn't try to get another flight but to be fair the one I had thought about booking for today was cancelled as well so not sure ds would have coped with another day of will we - won't we be going and a wasted trip to the airport.

On the plus side ds had a ball building snowmen today.....

Hope everybody else gets there ok

Wendy
