No Magic at the Beauty & Beast show

We visited MGM Studios on 12/23 and made a bee-line to the Beauty and the Beast show and waited for over 1 hour for the show to start at 1030 for my 8 year old daughter (with my inpatient 2 year old). Well after 10-15 minutes extra of waiting we were TOLD that the show was CANCELLED due to technical difficulties.

I can understand problems like this but they didn't offer us to "fast pass" us in without any waiting for the next show. After another 15 minutes of waiting they did show us the characters but NO AUTOGRAPHS and NO CLOSE PERSONAL pictures. I felt like we were rushed in and rushed out.

I was not impressed with the cast members at this location. This is truely not Disney magic here at this place.

Anyone else have this kind of treatment?

Sure, this happens all the time. We waited in line for the new Nemo show at AK back in Nov for nearly an hour. About 10 minutes before the show was set to begin and the doors would open, they cancelled because of technical difficulties. So everyone left and came back to a later show if they wanted to see it.

Also happened at Indiana Jones show once. Audience was seated, waiting for the show and the announcement came.

We also waited in the rain for about 45 minutes once for Fantasmic because they didn't know if the weather would cancel the show or not. About 5 minutes before showtime, it was cancelled.

There are no autographs for shows. And all pictures happen while the CMs are on stage, nothing before or after.

That's just the way it goes.

My POINT is ... they should either

1. Get their act together OR
2. Distribute Fast passes for shows that have to be cancelled

I don't know about handing out FastPasses when a show cannot be done (the attractions I worked at were not FastPass attractions. I have been given a FP for a FP ride that broke down while I was in line but not every time), but as far as "getting their act together" it's not quite that simple.

I've been backstage at the Beauty and the Beast show - not during a show, but not much later after the show. The amount of work and manpower that goes into it amazes me. I did theater in elem. school, middle school, high school and college - both in my schools and in community theater. Obviously this is a much larger scale, but even with my experience in theater I was astounded at how much work and different elements go into this show. If there are technical difficulties, it's rarely because the cast and/or crew doesn't "have their act together." Some problems simply cannot be avoided. I understand that it is a huge inconvenience when you've waited so long to see the show, but the hardworking group at that attraction shouldn't be blamed for technical problems that they have no control over.

I'v never had to wait for a B&B show that was cancelled, so I don't know their policies on autographs, pictures, etc. However, if this happens to any of the guests here in the future and you feel you deserve to be compensated - ask to speak to the manager on duty. Without giving too much info away, there are ways that they can try to make the magic happen. And if you're treated rudely, def. ask for a manager or go to Guest Relations with the CMs name.

Going to Guest Relations will do you a lot better than posting about it on the net ... in a physical sense, of course.

I have been to Walt Disney World several times. I realize Disney has raised the bar as far as Customer Service is concerned. However, they are not perfect. They may have had things coordinated to start the show then something happened. Things like this happen. Fast passes are for the rides. They do not give these out for the shows. I realize you were and are upset. Like the other person stated...talking to Guest Relations is your best bet. I am sorry this happened to you but sometimes this happens even at the Happiest Place on Earth. Just remember Disney isn't perfect either. They strive to be but they're not.

Stuff happens and with things that are very detailed, stuff happens fairly frequently. Chill out, roll with the punches and you'll enjoy your vacation a lot more.

I'm curious though, did you make any complaints while you were at the park?

I believe that this show does not have a FP system, so handing out some kind of FP for a cancelled show would most likely cause a lot of confusion and problems for the next showing. Imagine a ton of people showing up at the last minute demanding access to the stadium because they have a special pass, but there are no seats left and more people are still in line...

Sorry they cancelled the show, but at least it wasn't life threatening and the end of the world..

We had a problem with our Dining Plan back in April....it was when they first started allowing the Dining Plan for DVC members and the credits are supposed to be good until park closing on check out day. They ended up cancelling our credits at check out and I had a bunch of credits saved for the last day! :scared1:

We got Fast Passes for Test Track, then went to a TS lunch in Italy. When they couldn't validate our credits, it took a while. They wanted me to pay for the meal ($150) which I wouldn't do since I had specifically saved credits for that lunch. I ended up sending my 1 son with my sister over to Test Track while the rest of us stayed to try to resolve the issue. It took me nearly an hour of trying to resolve it with phone calls from my cell phone while the restaurant manager was on the phone trying to validate.

The rest of us missed Test Track....I went to Customer Relations and they gave me Fast Passes good for any ride that were good for the next couple of days. (I had to pick the ride, then they filled them in)

Unfortunately, we were leaving that day and had to get on the road, so we never used them....but the point is that they wiill try to do something for you if you feel you were inconvenienced and missed something due to their error. Just go in and be nice.....allow the CM to show the Disney Magic when you are there.....after you leave, there is not much they can/will do.

This show doesn't have fastpasses.

As far as getting their act together-this show is done thousands of times a year. Sometimes, things happen. I'm betting the percentage is very, very low as far as shows that get cancelled because of a technical difficulty.

In October, I was on the platform at Space Mountain when it broke down. Everyone was given a fastpass good for any MK fastpass ride as we exited. They could have passed them out good for MGM fastpass ride, to compensate for the time lost.
