No love for CBR??

Okay, I'm in the final stages of making a resort decision, but before I do I had one last question. I have a poll going where I am trying to decide on our trip without the kids. CBR only has a few votes. Truthfully I absolutely adore the Caribbean theme and bright colors, but it seems that everything I read lists CBR as the least favorite mod. Therefore I am leaning toward CSR to get that beachy feel. I do like the room decor a bit better at CSR, but don't want to base my decision solely on that. Please, before I make my final decision..tell me what you love or hate about CBR?

I know what you mean! I've had the pleasure of staying at all of the moderate resorts and I actually put CBR at the top of my list. I've never understood why I'm in the minority. I find it the most beautiful of all the mods because of that Caribbean theming. It's a lovely resort to relax in and take refuge from the busy parks. My biggest complaint about CSR is that it is a business hotel so you see suits walking around a lot. When we were there in February, people in suits were sitting at the quiet pools working on their laptops. That same day, the beach area was closed for a special event for a medical convention. It really brought me back to reality seeing all of this, but I still wanted to be in vacation mode!

We've had good and bad housekeeping at all of the mods as well, so I wouldn't put one above the other in that regard. Size doesn't matter to us either, as we really enjoy walking and strolling the beautiful grounds. In all honesty, I don't think you can go wrong with ANY of the moderate resorts. I think it comes down to theming and which one strikes your fancy the most. Have a great time!

I didn't like CBR b/c it felt too spread out. We drove to the food court from our room and it felt like we were driving to another resort. It wasn't as upscale as CSR and looked older. We were also there in the winter when it was really cold and overcast and we didn't feel like we were in the caribbean. Maybe it's better during other seasons.

My biggest complaint with CBR is that it is just so darned large. I love POR which is also large, so I didn't think the size of CBR would bother me, but I was wrong. Seven bus stops is a lot! It seems like you spend a lot of time driving around the resort before going to the parks, and then driving around when coming back.

I also didn't care for the food court. Especially when compared to CSR or POR, the one at CBR had limited choices.

I've stayed at all 4 moderate resorts, and CBR would be my last choice. It isn't like it is a pit or horrible, but it was just not as good as the other 3, imho.

I liked CBR but yes it does feel very spread out. I really like POR better but I think you will be happy either way

CBR gets absolutely no love from me, sorry. It has been my all time least favorite resort (not that I have stayed at many, LOL). I would go back to ASM before I would stay at CBR again. I loved POR though.

CBR just felt so big, inconvenient, and I did not enjoy the food court - it was so crowded.

We loved CBR but stayed in a preferred room in Aruba. The walk was 5 min to food and the main pool.

We loved the entire atmosphere and the only reason we aren't going back is my daughter is now 5 and as a family of 5 POR is our only option.

Queen beds - a must for DH who's 6'4" and the other mods now have. Otherwise I would love to stay at CBR!

Well luckily it will only be dh and I getting a king bed wherever we choose. We could never stay there with the kids though without getting two rooms.

Loved CBR for my first visit. Second visit not so much. Third visit did not enjoy at all. Food court CMs were rude, did not know their stations And the supervisors would berate the CMs in front of guests. Will be a long time before I go back.

Luckily a king bed is something you can pay for at most resorts. Unfortunately that means you can also pay for a preferred location. And, having stayed in a non preferred location at CBR, there is no way I would stay there again without paying for preferred.

OMG!! Our whole family loves CBR the most!! The tropical feel is so relaxing. We always have gotten preferred so it never felt to big to us. The food court has never been crowded when we were there and the pool is great. I like the zero entry and the hottub behind the pool hasn't been crowded (I think some forget it's back there). We've stayed at all levels and CBR feels like home to us.

CBR is our absolute favorite moderate. It has such a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. It is such a nice escape from the craziness of the parks. We feel like we have 2 vacations when staying there. We actually like the fact that it is a large resort. Because of this, it never feels crowded even when it's at capacity. Our last 3 stays were during free dining and it was sold out. If we didn't actually see people leaving their room, we would have thought we were the only people in our building.

There are sooo many non-preferred rooms that are a very short walk to OPR and the main pool. In 4 stays we have only reserved non-preferred rooms and have never regretted it. We prefer Jamaica 45. It's a 4-5 minute stroll over the bridge to OPR and the main pool. Plus it's a beautiful walk.

Every village has it's own bus stop so you're never far from one. The landscaping is just beautiful. We love walking around the resort and usually schedule 2 days as resort days to just kick back and enjoy.

I too was nervous before our first stay at CBR due to the lack of lover, but it's considered our WDW home now. If the theme appeals to you, go for it.

Our favorite resort is CBR. We absolutely love the tropical theming and landscaping. There are beautiful, white sandy beaches with friendly ducks and lounging hammocks. There are 7 villages with their own quiet pool and beach. The main pirate pool is zero entry and great with or without children. There is a nice hot tub by back of the main pool and a tropical bar called the Banana Cabana by the main pool. The rooms are large with 2 double beds and 2 sinks with lots of storage in the room. We usually request Aruba or Jamaica village and it is a short walk over the bridge to the main pool, food court, and gift shop. We have always had good housekeeping at CBR and clean rooms. Bus service has been good and we have been to CBR, I think, going on 8 times.

We actually like the large size because it never seems crowded at CBR. It is always so nice to come back from the parks and feel like you are now on a tropical island. At night when we get back from the parks, we love to go lounge on the beach and discuss our day. It never seems crowded.

Our first visit was CBR when my daughters were 7 and 5. They are now 26 and 24 and this is still the only resort they want to stay at. We are going in July - my oldest daughter and her husband, my youngest daughter and her boyfriend, and myself. We are all adults and can't wait to stay at CBR again!

Good luck with your decision!

We stayed at CB a few years ago for our 10 year wedding anniversary. I was so excited as the theme looked amazing. I wouldn't stay there again. It was only OK in my mind. Didn't feel all that beachy and the resort is huge!

Loved POR, would stay there again in a heartbeat. Would also stay All Star Music over CB.

We are going for our first stay in August and looking foward to it as the looks amazing. We stayed at POR but wanted to try somewhere else and this one just looked so nice. We like to walk so don't really mind if it's bigger as you see more stuff that way. The only down side it the double beds rather then queen but when we stayed at POR they were double and we lived.
I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait our 141 days! So excited about this trip.
