Dont get me wrong; I'm absolutely THRILLED we're going on this trip, but my DH and DD are tired of WDW and have begged me to give it a rest and not book another trip for next year.

It's going to be so hard to pull out of our campsite this June, not knowing if or when i'll be back. Anyone else in the same boat, with spouse and or child(ren) who just don't want to go anymore? They enjoy it while they're there, especially lazing around the Ft. But they're just not enthusiased about going anymore :(

My DH and DS hate to come any more, thankfully I still have my DD who loves Disney as much as I do, so we come without 'em!!

Solo trip? Girls trip? Nieces and nephews? Random neighborhood children? If there is a will... there is a way! ;) If those options don't work just put all your time and effort into planning the biggest and best Disney reunited trip EVER... in a few years.. :rotfl:

Have you ever camped down in the Florida Keys? We stopped at the Fort last year for 1 night each way both coming and going. There is easily almost a weeks worth of things to do down there. State campgrounds as well as private campgrounds. We went all the way to Key West last spring break.

I hear ya kinda. The parks are nice but at $100 per person per day for us, I'm happy lounging around the Fort like you say. I'd like to get down around the Naples area. And also swim/snorkel with the manatees like John did.

My family has also made rumbling noises about Universal especially with Harry Potter (which is heresy to my ears).

Thanks everyone. Can't take a trip without DH. He just doesn't go for it and I understand.

Bama Ed, you're a GENIOUS! DH has been dying to go to the keys! And we all love State Parks. Yay! I've got my 50th birthday trip in the works now!

:cool1:

Last year on the way home from our Disney trip we stopped at Huntington Beach State Park for a few days because the kids really wanted a beach trip. Made everyone happy! It's all about compromise. The Keys sound great!

Nothing like the fort but where did you stay in the keys? dh wants to go there:confused3:) he is big into fishing!!! any suggestions would be appreciated!:confused3

Here is my TR from my trip down to the Keys in March 2011.

Be forewarned the State Parks fill up almost 11 months to the date of arrival. Of course in summer it may not be that close but in early spring (when the weather is perfect) pre-planning was a necessity.

We have a pop-up and wanted to stay as close to Key West as possible so we stayed at a private campground called Boyd's (read the TR for my recommendation). If you have a Class A and want to stay in more appropriate digs there are other places further up US1.

I'm sure I'm headed back to the Keys someday but this is all we could squeeze in 7 days from Alabama with teenagers.

PS-I would love to hear what you plan differently. I wish I could have squeezed in some kayaking in the mangrove trees nearby.

Loved, Loved, Loved your trip report. We are doing the Keys this summer. I know, crazy hot in the summer, but we are ready. We are doing some of the state parks and Napria, take Bama Ed's advice. Some of the parks you need to book 11 months out. Bahia Honda is the #1 and the hardest to get. We will be on the road for 5 weeks with the last 12 nights at Fort Wilderness. Can't wait.

Well as long as you think so. < trying hard to act humble at this point > :rolleyes1

DW is always close by to keep my head from swelling too big. I am just trying to share with those on the DIS what I learned on my trip to the Keys.

Of course, I have snarky fanz on the Intwerwebz that like to read my trip reports.

I'm just here to help, of course. Let us know what you plan....
