She said, "On Friday we slept in a bit then took the the Hollywood Studios bus and then the boat to Epcot (both were actually there right when we needed them!). We arrived in France about 30 minutes early for the...

"They started checking people in about 10 minutes before noon. They then had us all wait so a few more pics."






"I think this staircase would make for an excellent wedding picture location if there was a way to swing it."






"This is on the wall leading from Chefs de France."



"When the waiting area was getting a bit full, they allowed us to start heading upstairs. When we checked in again upstairs they asked if Hunter was allergic to mussels (I had called to add his Fish/Shellfish allergies but somehow only fish got communicated). We were then seated at a table for 6 with us being closest to the window."

"Very crisp and refreshing. It was paired with the mussels dish."



"The mussels dish was unlike any other mussels I have ever had."




"The mussels were from their shells and baked into like a soft custard or souffle. I wish I had gotten a picture of the inside, as it was just fabulous!"




"Hunter was presented with this salad as his first course."





"It was pears with romaine, pecans and a glorious chunk of blue cheese. It was a very high quality blue cheese and the salad was fabulous. Hunter did not feel jilted on this course at all."



"This was our third wine...




"A devine red. It went well with the main course...




Walnut-crusted guinea fowl breast with potatoes and mushrooms."

"I thought this was really good but Hunter wasn't as impressed by this as the rest of the meal."



"We were served two wines with this but I guess after the amount of wine we had already consumed, pictures were not taken."

Friday cannot come soon enough! I am finally returning to Disney World (after a brief 25 year hiatus) with my DW31, DD4, and DD3 (who's birthday was this week).





We're staying in a Nemo Suite at AoA on DxDP. My in-laws are joining us for the 1st half of the trip, and the 2nd half is with my parents (divorced but friendly) and my DSis29.

My parents are the same as yours! We took a Disney trip a couple years ago when they were divorced for my sister.

She said, "Here is the Bongos report from last night."






"My mom, dad and aunt went there for dinner around 5:00. My aunt got the seafood combo thing." :laughing:



"She can't remember what it was called but said it was delicious! There was a lobster tail, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari."



"My mom got Lechon Asado (Slow Roasted Pork Leg)."




"She really enjoyed this as well, but there was a big hunk of fat and veins that she didn't care for."



"My dad got the grilled filet of fish...




"He was raving about this!! Absolutely loved it. He also enjoyed my mom's rice and beans. So much... he wanted to get a bowl for dessert."



"And speaking of desserts...




"This is rice pudding and a cup of coffee that was enjoyed greatly."



"And here is my mom eating her cheese flan."

"We started with the pineapple bread with macadamia butter."




"We received two plates of this and wolfed it down. Then we got two more plates and those disappeared as well! It is that good."

"Oh!!! And a pineapple upside cake my dad ordered."




"He said it was too dry though and didn't finish it."

Barb- I am amazed at how you keep up with all of this. I had to take a couple of days away from the thread because I had a stomach bug, but missed TEN pages in that short time! All caught up now and my mouth is watering again. I loved seeing Hoop De Do again and all the F&W events, which are so unique. I cannot wait to get down there myself. The only good thing about having been so ill-- I lost 5 lbs, so I don't have to feel as guilty if I bulk up at Goofy's Candy Co!

He said, "After having breakfast at Kona earlier in the morning I went to spend my day at EPCOT, which allowed me to have a roving lunch around World Showcase via the Food & Wine Festival Booths."






First stop:







Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Onions, Avocado and Cilantro

"This was amazing! The pork belly with a nice char and crust on the outside that gave away to a juicy succulent interior."





Next Stop:







Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri sauce and boniato puree

"I never heard of boniato before, apparently it's a form of sweet potato. It was pretty good, although it was a bit salty, but that's a small complaint."




"A little further down the way;







Shrimp taco with fresh cabbage


"Simplicity at its best, the shrimp nice and crispy, purple cabbage providing a nice bite, a fresh squeeze of lime, and a little avocado the perfect little bite."












"I had the Schnickennudeln, this was like German Mac&Cheese. It was delicious, although it was a bit soggy, like the noodles were well overcooked. Also I was surprised to find onions mixed in, wasn't expecting them but they did impart a lot of additional flavor to the dish."










"Zapiekanki, which is pretty much Polish Cheese Bread with mushrooms and caramelized onions served with a house made ketchup. The ketchup had a nice kick which was unexpected, the kind of heat that lingers on your lips for the next two booths. All I could think to myself was that the placement of the Germany and Poland booths was asking for an invasion joke." ;)










Grass-Fed Beef Slider

"A small little hamburger, although not overly flavorful, the pickles added a nice snap. I believe you take the house made ketchup from Poland and put it on this, you'll have a truly amazing little snack." :thumbsup2













"A country that I long to visit, but I don't have the patience for that eternity of a plane trip. I tried the Lamb Meatball, this was the first time I ever had lamb in any fashion, and I don't know maybe I was expecting something a bit more gamey, but it just tasted like a regular veal and pork meatball."




"I ended my trek at;








"The infamous Kalua Pork Slider with pineapple chutney and spicy mayo. This was the first time I ever had the Disney version as I've been making it home for a while and boy oh boy did it meet my expectations. Although in my version I use King Hawaiian rolls, because who has the time to make your own brioche rolls? I easily could've stayed and eaten 3-4 of those and been completely content."

Thanks Rachel! I meant to take a picture of our Pepsi cans we brought along with us this trip, but I totally forgot lol. We love that movie theater in DTD! Going there is one of the things we look most forward to on our trips.

Also, you two must be tired! We always wear our fitbits to the parks and it's fascinating to find out how far you've walked during a Disney day. On just Sunday alone, we walked about 11 miles. We get home from our Disney weekends feeling kinda beat, I can't fathom how you feel after over two weeks! :rotfl2:

And once again, I am so indebted to Barb and all her hard work in this amazing thread! ALL HAIL BARB! :dance3:

I LOVED all of your recent updates! You guys seem like a lot of fun! We had our pedometers on the whole trip and 11 miles a day was about our average. One day at F&W we did 15 miles! I was exhausted that day.

And I agree, ALL HAIL BARB!!! :worship:

"The view from my table...



"One of the nice things if you're a party of one or two, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a window seat since that's all that lines the windows of the restaurant."



The Menu








Bread Service






"Classic sourdough bread with butter sprinkled with black sea salt served with fennel oil on the side."



"I decided upon the cult classic Smoky Portobello soup with chive oil, roasted ****ake mushrooms, and sourdough croutons."



"One thing I noticed is they changed up the presentation on this. Long gone is that pretentious over sized plate with a small little indentation for a ladle of soup, now it's a legitimate bowl of soup."


"This was amazing! They don't lie about it being smoky, but man oh man I could eat this by the pot full. I try making it at home, but I don't have the patience to smoke the mushrooms so I just end up roasting them, after eating the real thing it's obvious that's the key to unlock the full flavor."




"For my entree I decided upon the "Berkshire" Pork Tenderloin, Beecher's Flagship cheddar polenta, baby fennel, black mission figs, pearl onions, and fig reduction."



"This was simply put perfection on a plate for me. All the flavors blended so well together, and I pretty much was close to licking the plate clean."

"I passed up the well known Cobbler, and decided upon Fresh Lemon Curd, Pistachio Nougat Truffle, and White Chocolate Foam. Now when I hear things like "foam" I get nervous, I expect well like spit up from a cat, but this wasn't the case."








"Starting from right to left you have, Pistachio Nougat Truffle, some raspberries on a bed of what tasted like crushed smores, Lemon Curd, and in the back corner the White Chocolate Foam, which was more like a pudding. The truffle was rich and flavorful, I found best to take a spoonful of the white chocolate foam and pick up some of the s'mores crumbles. The lemon curd was WHAM hit you in the mouth, tart but not overly sour."

Hi Barb, My dd Emily and I will try to send in all of our updates today, trying to cram everything into a 4 day trip proved more challenging than we anticipated!
 
Next we received a couple of updates from Paula (smile4stamps) this morning.

She said, "After our French Regional Lunch (which rates really high for me in Festival experiences!), we hung out for awhile with our new friends from lunch making our way to the UK and the Rose and Crown Pub. Walking in we discovered that they removed the tables so instead we had to find a corner to gather in. I wasn't really feeling another drink but Hunter got me another cider anyways! Unfortunately no pictures of any of this! Our new friends were scheduled for a Mixology seminar at 6pm so were needing to head to the Festival Center. We decided we would see if there were any openings and join them for it. It turned out to be our lucky day!"

"And it turns out the alcohol for the Mixology seminar is from our neck of the woods!






"Bryan (right) is the owner of the distillery and Chris (left) is a mixologist."

Paula continued, "After the mixology seminar we said our goodbyes to our new friends and went on the search for food. We weren't starving after such a big lunch so just headed to our resort. I was really only hoping to get one thing! Not wanting to try and get into Artist Point though we just went to the Lounge. However I asked if we could order from Artist Point menu and we were told we could but entrees only."





"But the item that I REALLY wanted is an appetizer."





"Here's the Territory Lounge menu again."




"And the entrees we could have from the Artist Point menu...




"And the rest of the Artist Point menu...





"I asked if it was possible to get the soup despite it being an appetizer and they said that was easy enough so I was VERY happy!" :teeth:




"Hunter really liked the chicken he had the other night but asked for the sauce on the side."




"He also wanted fries but not the truffle fries from the menu and was able to get a side of plain ones. They came later so I guess I didn't get a picture."

She said, "So Saturday morning breakfast was at Epcot's...



"I just love this breakfast."

"After our breakfast we wandered around for a bit to try and work up an appetite. Didn't work very well for me. Didn't get to try a lot of the booths I wanted to but we did try some."

"Also when we arrived at POR I had to pick up my specialty cake that I had ordered to be waiting for us."



"This was done by the Boardwalk Bakery. It is a chocolate cake with orange buttercream for the filling."
