:sad2: DF and I are booked in a standard view room at AKL for our honeymoon 1/6-1/13. AFTER I booked (a few days later) I called Disney for something else and had them go over my package details again. CM said "two queens". I asked if I could request a king upon arrival since it was our honeymoon and he said no standard view rooms have king beds... Is this really the case??:sad2:

I think so, request it anyway, maybe they will upgrade you.

I originally had booked my honeymoon at AKL. I booked a pool view room and said I needed a king because of it being a honeymoon, and they didn't say that it was impossible... the difference in price between standard and pool view was only $15 a night at that time. Maybe consider upgrading to pool view? It's not nearly as expensive as savannah view, and I'd imagine that it would be worth the money for a more romantic honeymoon:love:

For the dates you're going, this is what it says under the standard view category

All rooms have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed with one day bed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, private balcony, vanity area with two sinks, and bath. Sleeps 3 or 4. Standard View rooms offer a view of parking area. Non-smoking and disabled-accessible rooms are available. Amenities include in-room safe, voice mail, data port on phone, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, coffeemaker and refrigerator. Crib available upon request.

We booked with a special January discount code and the only thing we could book was standard or pool bunk beds....

Back when AKL opened, I stayed in a standard room with a queen and bunkbed. My two friends stayed in a connecting room from mine, and they had a king bed, plus a chair that folded out into a bed. Their room was also handicaped assessible with a very large bathroom with a roll-in shower, which is what we wanted since one friend uses a wheelchair. Our rooms were on the 4th floor and very close to the front entrance. There really wasn't much of a view (parking lot), and the balconies were small and enclosed, so none of us ever went out there.

So at least back in 2001, there were king standard rooms. It was do-able, but I wasn't too thrilled with the rooms we had. I had pool view on 2 other AKL trips, and it was so worth it the money!! :)

I don't think that is the right resort, either that or who wrote that, wrote it wrong. AKL does not have a daybed standard room. From what i know of... or is this a new addition?

That information is a cut & paste directly from the Disney World reservation site. I'm sure the rooms are limited, but i'm sure they may have at least a very limited number of rooms with a king size bed.

To the OP, i'd request a King size bed as they may put you in a Savannah view if those beds are only available in those rooms. Since it's a slower season, you have a better-than-average chance of getting upgraded from standard view to savannah view by simply asking while checking in. I've been there twice and have gotten the upgrade twice so i'm batting 1000. :cheer2:

While confirming the details of my package again (I'm a worry wort), a VERY nice CM gave me some advice. She said upon check-in request a king room in zebra trail. All of the rooms in this section are either savannah or pool view and that way it doesn't sound like we are pushing for an upgrade. Never been to WDW before do I'm not sure how to ask for an upgrade... Guess I'll take CM's advice and request a specific section.
