I'm so stinking happy to be packing to leave tonight. This is our first trip to the world without kids in over 6 years. I was having cabin fever like crazy with all the snow and the school closings. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids. However, I was going nuts being stuck in this house with them. I was able to talk my husband into dropping them off with my parents for the weekend and just drive to Disney. It didn't hurt that I was speaking through clenched teeth while cleaning up poop someone decorated the toilet with.:rolleyes1 :lmao: We aren't even gonna mention the umpteenth snow storm heading our way tomorrow. I decided the kids didn't need to know where we were going. It is our little secret. I'm sure none of my dis friends will tell on us.:ssst:

Congratulations! My DH and I just returned from four lovely, teenager free days at the World! We have been by ourselves 3 times now and really enjoy it. Of course, we also enjoy it with our two girls, but sometimes it nice just to please yourself for a change. :)

your secrets safe here
LOL it will be a good time just before valentines day have fun both of my daughters are grown but not married when we plan a trip one of them always wants to go my DH tells me don't tell the girls where we going!!!

I'm jealous! My kids-free weekend isn't until October (20th Aniversary). I will tell my kids we are goin to the beach. I will leave out the detail that it will be BLIZZARD BEACH!:rotfl:

Have a fantastic time!!

We are having the time of our lives. This might only be the a short trip but I so thrilled. We got here around 7 am. We got to our hotel (Downtown Disney Hilton) to check it. Unfortunately we couldn't go to our room but they upgraded us to concierge room. Wow! I feel rich for the first time ever, too bad it won't last. lol This allowed us to get a free breakfast. We walked across the street to DTD after breakfast. After a morning of relaxation, I got a call from an uncle of my "adopted" daughter. He works for Disney and offered to get us into the parks free. OMG :cool1: How freaking awesome? Dreams really do come true. We get in and can hop for FREE. Now we are heading back to DTD. I don't know when I have been this happy.:yay: Yep that's what I have been doing all day.

you got out of Virginia JUST in time!!!!! godd for YOU!!! your kids will have tons of fun playing in the snow! they won't even notice you're gone! and if you had done it one day later, you would have been stuck!!! that proves you did the right thing!
and you are right, they don't need to know (need to know basis) WHERE you went for your "mommy and daddy trip" God bless you. the best thing you can do for your children is keep your marriage on track. and sometimes that means "mommy and daddy time".
there was another thread recently about people feeling guilty about going to WDW without their kids, and these poor folks were flamed big time. if you are taking an adults only trip, what dif. does it make, WHERE you go? have fun!!!!
since you get to go to the parks, I vote for epcot. get an adult beverage, stroll world showcase, view illuminations
enjoy!!! kiss hug

thanks smidgy! What a nice response to my post. I read the flamed post. It was bad and I felt so sorry for that poster. I think I might start my first trip report ever. I'm not much of a writer but this has been such a great trip I think I will give it a shot. We are heading to Epcot in a few minutes.:cheer2:

My kids have been off school for 7 days now and are already cancelled for tomorrow. I have kept my sanity by planning a moms getaway trip for June. We are going to run a 5K at Animal Kingdom. Any tips you can share for adult things to do from your weekend away?

take a segway tour!!! we took the one that goes through world showcase before it opens. you get to learn extra stuff about WS, as well as learn to ride a segway,( which you couldn't do with little kids)
fort wilderness has a segway tour, which we haven't done. that sounds fun. you could get a beverage at Trail's End after.
either one, you need to book ahead of time, as they are small groups.
