We're coming on 25th October for 8 days. I have an 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.

My son definitely wants to spend a day at Marvel Island of Adventure but he's not into Harry Potter at all.

Both obviously love Disney World too (we went to California last year).

Anywhere else we really should consider visiting in our 8 days? We visited Seaworld at San Diego so I'm not sure we need to go again.

We will hire a car on arrival at Orlando International Airport

Also would love some hotel recommendations, had a quick look on Trip Advisor and notice that the Holiday Inn Orlando, Lake Buena Vista isn't too expensive, any advice please?

Considering Walt Disney World Orlando has 4 different parks, and you want to do Universal Studios Islands of Adventure for one day, that's 5 different parks in 8 days. I should think that will fill up the time nicely. I wouldn't add any other attractions, I would stick to what you have already.

Especially because the Magic Kingdom park in WDW can be split into 2 or 3 days with kids of that age group. I would also consider Epcot in WDW a 2 day park, meaning you can find 2 days worth of fun in that park if you wish (generally we do one day, but a lot of people do 2).

Read the blog: easywdw . com and Josh will give you a good idea of the size of the parks, the things to do, and the crowd calendars predicting how busy each park will be every day. Use that to decide which parks to visit on which days.

I'm not sure about the hotel you looked at, but when I'm checking on the internet about hotels, I use TripAdvisor . com and read the reviews posted by people who have stayed there. Not all reviews are true though, sometimes people lie, but, when there are more than 500 reviews, I figure at least some of those people really do exist, and really have stayed at the property they are reviewing.

There are many options of places to stay right on WDW property, and it's quite easy to get around using their transportation system. However, many people enjoy to stay off site, that opens up a wider range of better restaurants in my opinion. I usually end up staying right on the property then I don't have to worry about renting a car, renting a car seat (for your 2 year old) and driving around. Although it might cost the same to rent a car and car seat as it does to hire a car and driver to take you to Universal Studios, so you might not be ahead by not renting a car.

Have you looked into Legoland? It's about 45 minutes or so away from WDW, but, it looks like a kid's dream! If you think you might want to try it, I recommend Undercover Tourist or find someone who subscribes to Lego Magazine in order to save money on tickets.

Thanks, we have a Legoland not too far away from us in the UK so I will probably visit that one some other time (I know my son would love to go there!), there again the US one may be better, I'll investigate :-)

Lots to think about and I wish we were staying for 2 weeks but the cost to change the flights now is ridiculous so we'll make this a fact-finding trip for when we can stay longer the next time. :-)
