So my husband and I are planning a trip to Europe in Sept. 2011. We'll be in Paris for 3 days and I wanted to take a day and do Disneyland Paris. My only problem is I have no idea where to start!!!

I looked at their website but I couldn't figure out if there are 2 parks or just 1?

If there are 2 parks can you do them both in a day if you realize you may not get to ride everything?

How far away is Disneyland Paris from Paris? I thought we might want to stay at a Disney hotel while we're there because I know it'll help me feel better about traveling overseas but I didn't know if we were too far away from the other big attractions in Paris.

This will be the first time either of us have been to Europe. My husband has traveled to Asia and we've both been to Mexico and the Caribbean.

there are two parks. disneyland park which is like the magic kingdom and the studios.

if you only have one day and are buying tickets i would stick with disneyland park. they are side by side and only a couple of minutes walk from each gate but i dont think you would have enough time to take the park in if you were rushing to the studios. in saying that i would have a look at the website and go through the attractions, if there is a lot you want to do in the studios then go for it. just be prepared for the fact that you wont be able to fit it all in.

what day are you planning on going? in sept the park will close at 7pm during the weekdays however the park will be quiet. weekends are much busier but the parks are open till 10 or 11.

you can get the train from paris direct to disneyland.

Because you are going in September the Studios will probably be open til 6pm and the main Disneyland Park until 7pm. So you won't have the longest time if you're trying to go to both. That said, we were there last September and the parks were very quiet, queues weren't long at all. As the other poster said, it really depends on which attractions you are most interested in seeing.
As for where to stay, if you decide to stay at DLP your park tickets can be included in your price and you would probably end up with more time there. The train to central paris is direct and only takes around 45 minutes.
Alternatively, if you stay in Paris you can of course get the train as well, but what I have done in the past is book a day trip to DLP. This was bookable at our hotel, i think it was around 60 euros per person and included the bus directly from hotel to the parks, it was very very easy. I think a lot of coach companies in Paris run deals like this, there is a popular one that you can get leaving from the Louvre.
