What perfect timing, nothing to blame higher prices on. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for no huricanes. Anyone else find this to be strange? Maybe its just that I no longer trust the Oil Giant$ . :stir:

nothing to add to the topic, just wanted to say Hi Al! Long time no see!!

I don't find it strange, I find it a lucky coincidence.

I don't subscribe to every conspiracy theory that comes along...

Geez, I dunno. BP loses the revenue of 400,000 barrels of oil PER DAY.

Round #'s this equals about $28,000,000 / day lost (@ $70/bbl). Or $2.5 BILLION a quarter. Even in oil goes up a few bucks (which it undoubtedly will), BP's taking it in the shorts over this.

All in all, I'm sure they would much rather have the oil flowing (along with the state of Alaska)

Not everything that happens in the oil industry is a grand conspiracy to soak the average joe.

Gee, you'd think that not taking care of the pipeline would cost them that much they'd check it more often...

I'll wait until the next quarter BP profit report before I make any judgements

Especially when 60 percent of the pipeline is suffering from this corrosion. That's a pretty big thing to miss.

I agree, lets see how much they make at the end of the quarter.

My God...what's next? The oil industry is responsible for the war in the Middle East?

I see it as a coincidence. Lack of oversight on the part of BP...this being the second time in very little time (had a spill a few weeks ago in Alaska as well). It was then that the federal regulators noticed BP wasn't checking the safety of the pipelines, and the corrosion was found.

Research people, research.
