No hotels Feb 24-26?

I don't go at this time of year, but my dd has a competition in St Pete that weekend. She said all she wants for her bday (March 4) is to go to Universal. I thought we would go to St Pete for 1 night and head over to Universal for another. Not sure which night/day is comp so trying to reserve both nights and then will cancel one closer. No availability? Is it always like this at this time of year?

Another reason I don't know is that we've always homeschooled until this year, so we went during the week. It's hard enough taking a trip now that she is in high school, but combined with no rooms it's impossible.

Thats the weekend of the Daytona 500,We went once for the race and to the parks, very very crowded.

Thanks I was searching for what was going on. I ended up going with March 13-15 as she is out of school, and it was Florida resident discount. I'll just give her the tickets on her bday. Hope it isn't too crowded that week. I got RPH for $199 a night which seems like a decent price. Now to decide on tickets.

Check with online hotel retailers (Expedia, Orbitz, Travellocity, hotels.com, etc.). Online hotels will sometimes have a block of rooms reserved, and so, even when the hotel doesn't reflect available rooms on their website, the retailers can have rooms available for that hotel.

you have the hotel booked and will be able to use the express lines for most of the rides.

shouldn't be a problem for wait times.
