No hoppers at monorail resort?

Hi - we are staying at the GF for a week in May. The last couple trips we stayed at the BCR. We were just steps away from Epcot but found that we barely ever park hop. I don't want to spend another $250 on hoppers if we only use them once or so. Trying to decide if we will miss them if we don't do hoppers this time. We've never stayed at a MK resort so I'm not sure if the MK will be calling to me every day that I "can't" go in. Anyone else stay that close to a park without hoppers?

I know we can add them once we're there. But, we like to go knowing that at least the resort and tickets are completely paid for once we get there. I know we can....but we won't want to shell out more money on tickets if we don't have to.

Thanks!

Do you already have tickets? I always just bought directly through Disney because it seemed like 3rd party sellers were only a couple bucks less and one more step to take. I also rarely hop. BUT I learned of Parksavers .com in another thread and their 5 or 7 day (I forget which) WITH hoppers were $51 less than Disney directly. Since hoppers are a $64 add-on, I looked at it as only $13 for the hopper, which would definitely tip the scales for me! Even if I only hopped once, at that price, I wouldn't consider it wasted.

And, just to cover the bases, if your tickets have the Water Park Fun and more option, to add the "Hopper" costs
just $25 per ticket.

I would get the hoppers. You are already spending a ton so what is another $250. That's my thought process anyway. That's what our family does. My wife and I want to have a beer in the afternoon after the magic kingdom? Monorail to Epcot, grab a beer at rose and crown while the kids watch British Invasion. That alone is worth $250 or in our case $180. It's all about the freedom to do what you want.

I've wrestled with that myself. But when we stay at a monorail resort, it's so easy to pop on over to the MK. With AK and DS being pretty much half day parks, it's nice to be able to have dinner and finish up the night with fireworks or hit the short lines while everyone else is getting a spot for the parade. My guess is if you can afford GF for a week, you can swing the extra $250. :-)

We've never had hoppers.

On our last trip we stayed at BCV. Right there at Epcot and never hopped.

Next trip we are getting AP's. We can hop with those and I've actually started our planning assuming that we will hop.

I would get the hoppers. We stayed at WL last year and although close and easy to get to MK, not as close and easy as GF and even then we hopped over to MK a couple of evenings for a few extra hours in the parks.

We love to hop, and we stay off site. I know if we were just a "hop" away from MK, we would totally want to pop in all the time so hoppers would be a no - brainer for us.

Oh... But the MK is just a short hop on the monorail, and a quick ride back on the boat! That's part of the luxury of staying at the GF! Of course get the park hoppers !

We used to always get park hoppers. I never really paid attention to the extra cost they added. However, a few years ago we were planning a trip with my SIL and she was on more of a budget, so we didn't get hoppers. That made me realize how much extra they cost, and how we didn't miss them at all. We haven't gotten them since, and we've stayed at the GF and WL.

We always get them, have been since there were two parks to hop between. We stay at the Epcot resorts most of the time and almost always find ourselves at Epcot just about every night.

If you didn't hop at BC, I would say hoppers aren't for you. On our recent YC stay, we were in Epcot everyday except Sunday (when we did MK, AK, and DHS) and Thursday (which was a MVMCP night... and actually, I did go there to grab a CS lunch).

Anyway, you are right by two resorts at BC and if you didn't want to hop there, it just seems unlikely to be your thing.

Individual choice, of course, but, I have never not had the hoppers. I love going to Epcot for the morning and MK in the evening or DHS and Epcot by boat. Or AK and any other that I might have a hankering to visit. It frees things up so much and gives much needed variety. I think that if you are staying that close to MK that you can see the park, then you will kick yourself if you don't have them. However, you can always add them at anytime, even the last day, if you want. The price is the same though so you might just as well get them ahead of time even if you don't use them the first few days. Like I said... same price.

I always take a mid-day break, and I rarely go back to the same park in the evening, so I use my park hoppers every day. As previously stated, with all the construction at DHS and AK, park hoppers may be handy.

Hoppers help you keep your options open! Say it rains the night you really wanted to see Wishes and they're cancelled, so now that option is gone. Or, somebody gets sick, or everyone is much too tired to stay out for Illuminations but you really wanted to see it. Or you go to AK for the day, but would have a great time popping over to MK for a late night. With hoppers, you have all sorts of options to change your plans, either out of necessity, or just choice. With hoppers, you have many more choices on how to spend your time! One day can be jam packed while another day you rest and enjoy the resort, but still do all you want over those days. You aren't stuck doing things on only a particular day or missing things due to weather, or illness, or other things.
Hoppers are great for keeping options open, and can make spontaneous choices more doable!

My opinion is if you don't think you'll use them, don't get them. I've had hoppers in the past. What I found is that I spent a ton of time going from one park to another. In the end I would have been just as satisfied if I had stayed in the same park all day. I know some people will say it is only $250. For my trip next year it will be "only" $320. But that is $320 that we can put toward food, souvenirs, stroller rental, etc. You get the idea. I don't see any reason to spend the money unless you know for sure that you will utilize it. I know we won't as we will be traveling with so many little ones. It will be one park a day. Period. You must choose for yourself, but choose based on your budget and your needs.

I just skimmed the posts so far. But has anyone mentioned you can upgrade to hoppers anytime? In other words, don't buy them in advance. (We personally never find them useful). If you get to a point where you think you'll need them, add it at Guest Services. The budget is the same in the end if you use them once or everyday.
