I am trying to play with dates to see about booking a last minute trip, but the website keeps telling me there are no hotels available, except the Grand Californian (or whatever they all it!). Is this normal...is everything really booked?

Did you try going directly to each hotel's website? That is a very busy time you are trying for!

Not everything I would imagine, but because it is already pushing the latter part of this month, it will be some what of a challenge to find a property that is close by and not costing a tiny fortune. Are you preferring to stay on site? In which case then if the Grand Ca is the only hotel available then at least it is a beautiful hotel, and you will enjoy your stay I am certain. If staying on site is not necessary take a look at the Day's Inn and other Wyndham properties that are close by. There is also a Motel 6 that is not far from Disneyland that might be of interest to you.

Good luck and have fun....

Well I know for a fact that I have some family members canceling rooms at the HoJo some nights between June 18 and June 25... so you might keep checking with them. I was also surprised to see HoJo offering some retro rates as late as June 17... so call their in house reservations maybe?

I believe that you can cancel reservations at the Anaheim FFI with only 24 hours notice. I would book somewhere else nearby as a back up plan and just keep checking with the good neigbor hotels for cancellations.

Anaheim Plaza Hotel still has some availability. Don't know what you're looking for, but this is a 2-star property that we stayed at over New Year's and will be staying at again in the mid/late part of June and we think the place is a steal for the money. Good sized rooms, directly across from Tower of Terror, huge swimming pool, and really nice grounds.

Just a suggestion...

Thanks guys...I am looking at good neighbor type hotels as I can NOT afford an actual DL resort.
My dates would be the 20-25th (airfare is best) but most of the available rooms I'm finding while going directly to hotel websites are pretty darn high.
Maybe we won't be doing this after all!

I don't know where you're specifically checking, but I see the Super 8 on west katella, the anaheim plaza, BW Pavillions, Clarion, Doubletree, Holiday Inn on manchester, Hyatt, Hilton, etc. all available and more.
They are available for your dates. I'm a travel agent, so I can see it right in their systems as available for good pricing, so you should call your travel agent and have them check as all these are definately available.
If you don't use a TA, try calling one because if I can see availability, they should be able to as well.
Good luck:)

What may I ask is your budget range for a place to stay?

With Cars Land opening there aren't many great deals for the rest of the summer. We're waiting until next year for just that reason (and scheduling issues).

When I changed my dates to July (originally late Aug.) The hotels I previously had reserved were way higher!:scared1: I looked around and decided to go with a package from Costco because they have cheaper prices overall. Good luck with finding a hotel!:goodvibes

I usually find better deals calling the hotels directly.... not always the case but sometimes!

Wow, between yesterday and today, of all those hotels I put up there, I only see availability for the Super 8 now. Good news is that for June - 25 it is only $280.80 including tax. This is the one on Katella.
Also, are the DL hotels, but crazy expensive.

You can always try bidding on priceline for a room - that's what we usually do. This time I used last minute travel . com (without spaces) and got the Hilton Anaheim for $73/night. :goodvibes

Here is a forum that has helped me many many times when I wanted to bid on a hotel for Disneyland - better bidding . com (without spaces). They explain how to do it and give a great intro and strategy. I usually get a nice 3 star hotel for around $50-70/night.

I would definitely keep checking for cancellations

BTW, most of these are not Good Neighbor hotels. GNH is just a marketing partnership with Disney, it does NOT imply that these hotels are necessarily higher quality than places that are not GNH. (In fact, it's possible the opposite is true, with Disney not taking the GNH cut, a regular non GNH hotel presumably could offer better service and nicer rooms at the same rate.)

I would also echo what other posters have said about cancellations. Most of the hotels in the area have a 24 hour cancellation policy, sometimes a bit longer depending on how the reservation is made. There are a lot of people who make reservations at a place hoping that a preferred option becomes available... and so it's not at all uncommon even a few days out to suddenly find things available that weren't earlier.

I'd find a place with an easy cancellation policy that you can live with, book rooms there, and call your preferred places (or three) every couple of days, if you are really focused on a particular location or option.

(Alternatively, you could definitely get *something* through Priceline at a decent price, but you may end up with a 20 minute ART ride, as opposed to being walking distance.)

I am suprised to see the Retro Rate being offered for the 14th & 15th. I thought the insanity of the opening would be an absolute not for those dates.
