Does anyone know why The Great Movie Ride wouldn't be showing up as a FP+ option the first week of October? I can't find anything indicating a refurb...:confused3

I have heard the same thing about Maelstrom. Don't know. My window isn't open until Saturday..

Yes, nothing for Maelstrom after 9/27, which I presume is related to the news of a Frozen makeover for Norway.

Just can't figure out why The Great Movie Ride isn't showing.

Has your date for booking come up yet? I know I am going for the 2nd week of October and I can't book until August 15th.

If your booking date isn't here yet, that could be the issue.

Booked everything this a.m. - that's when I noticed Maelstrom and The Great Movie Ride were omitted from the list of choices.

Great Movie Ride isn't available for the week I am there either (9/20-9/26).

It might have something to do with the tiering system. Not everyone can or will go on Tower of Terror from tier 2, but everyone will go on Great movie ride. And since those are the only really good attractions that need fastpass at DHS when its slow, then it might already be gone.

The problem is that they force you to take 3 fastpasses. So you got Toy Story Mania or RRC... so what else are you going to burn your 2 others on?

I actually got a 9am muppets fastpass. I doubt I will use it. This way I can have them run out and grab fantasmic as my 4th (or reschedule that muppets FP to fantasmic once fantasmic is released). Once Fantasmic rreleases, you might have some availability.

Or... its under rehab.

GMR NEVER is gone via FP+... It's even available as a 4th FP+ later in the day...

As I said on the Maelstrom thread, on our last 4 Food&Wine trips in Oct we walked on this ride, no need for a FP.

FP+ is a game changer though. The standby line at Maelstrom/GMR is likely to be longer when a FP+ line is running. With tiering at Epcot and DHS, what else are you going to choose? Muppets? Captain EO?

Did you already pick something else as tier 1? I think they changed GMR to tier 1 that could be why it isn't showing.

Even with FP+ in effect we were able to walk onto GMR in May. I can't imagine that FP+ would have that much effect on that ride.

Maybe so, but that's not guaranteed like a FP is. I've seen waits of 30 mins in September before implementation of FP+. "Trust me, you can walk on it" is little consolation when you are in the middle of a crowd anomaly. It's not something that is important to me, but to each their own.

Yes, been many times so I'm aware you don't *need* a FP. I just thought it was very odd that it wasn't showing as available. Maybe it was just a hitch during the time I was booking.

GMR is a tier 1 attraction now, so you will not be able to reserve it as a " throw-away" fastpass. You don't see it as an option probably because you already picked TSMM or RnRRC or Fantasmic

Man, is Disney ever playing with the novice Disney traveler. GMR has never needed a fastpass since it opened. The longest I can ever remember waiting was about 30 minutes and that was when the park first opened.

Tier 1, really? That is almost laughable, but, I guess it is working to keep all attractions busy, which is one of the reasons for the change over. I'll just continue to walk on and if the lines too long, I'll just walk on by and not feel that I missed out on anything.
